Zach, I am sorry that we could not come to an agreement refunding your deposit on the Tacoma you backed out of. We collect a deposit to secure a spot in our limited allocation pipeline. As I mentioned when we spoke, deposits endure we have genuine/committed buyers in the pipeline. In your case, you found a vehicle at another dealer first, which messes up entire pre-sale system and the people waiting in the middle of the lists for their cars. You are always welcome to call me and talk more, but I can only speak with you, as the deposit / car deal was only in your name. Your girlfriend was not on the deal, so I can’t cover any details with her. If you would like to use us for service in the future, we will leave your $500 deposit on your account. What I am most upset about is that it was never explained to me by Anthony Smith that it was non-refundable and also the box that states non-refundable on the credit authorization form I signed was not checked. And earlier this year I placed a deposit down at Beck Toyota on a new 4Runner and that money was refunded to me.

Plus we discovered it is 100% your discretion being the manager to refund me the 500.00 but you are choosing not too when none of it was explained to me that it was non-refundable when I put the 500.00 deposit down.

Too me that is extremely bad business practice to not explain that up front to people that are putting down the 500.09 deposit. I also have the copy of the form I signed and sent to Anthony Smith which clearly shows the non-refundable box was never checked therefore I had no idea it was a non refundable deposit.
