Purchased New 2018 Ford F150 Shelby Raptor Baja I don't like being misled and I was absolutely misled/lied to. Kevin my sales rep was fantastic. He was just a messenger. I called in to the dealership on Monday morning and spoke to Kevin. I told him I was interested in the Shelby Raptor as I had been looking around for one for quite some time that was in Florida. While I don't live in Tampa, it was close enough for me to driver over to check it out. I told him I'd be at the dealership when it opened the next day. He said it was his day off, yet still would come in to show me the truck. I let him know my time would be limited and he said they would accommodate and ultimately they did. I purchased the truck with cash via a bank wire and left the dealership Tuesday morning. I received a courtesy call from the Kevin making sure everything was ok with the truck on Friday. On that call, he explained that Shelby needed them to do an inspection on something on the truck. I said ok, can I take the truck to the Ford dealership that is 5 minutes from my house instead of driving two plus hours (round-trip) back to their dealership in Tampa. I was told no, it HAD to come back to their dealership. I could overhear someone (possibly a manager) telling Kevin they could get in trouble for not having addressed the inspection and then the line was muted. I thought this was strange but nonetheless agreed to get back to them Monday or Tuesday after I checked my schedule to see if I could bring the truck to them or take them up on their offer to come get the truck and then bring it back to me. I looked up the "inspection" and it turns out it is a simple recall for a transmission line inspection. Why they lied to me telling me the vehicle had to come back to them for the recall I just don't know. But I don't like being lied to or misled. Especially over something so trivial. I did call Ford, and spoke with them and of course they confirmed I could take the truck to any Ford Dealership for the recall. They also said they were just notified of the inspection on the initial call and that may be the case...but it was posted out by ford a week and a half earlier. At any rate, trust is everything for me and is someone or a business would mislead/lie over something so trivial...in my experience that's usually just the tip of the iceburg. The salesrep Kevin was great. I enjoyed working with him and the floor manager was very nice as well. More
