I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but my experience here was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others- especially if you’re buying from out of state. I was working with Scott Essex experience here was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others- especially if you’re buying from out of state. I was working with Scott Essex regarding a 2022 Kia Stinger GT2. From the start, I made it very clear that I was not local and would be relying heavily on photos and videos to evaluate the car. I specifically asked him to show all imperfections so I knew exactly what I was working with. Scott insisted the car was in “perfect condition” and sent over extremely low-quality photos and videos (basically unusable). Something felt off, so I called back the next day and spoke with Maria. I explained the exact same request—and she delivered. She sent detailed photos that clearly showed multiple imperfections, including a large 3–4 inch tear on the driver’s seat that was NOT on a seam. That is not minor wear, and it absolutely should have been disclosed upfront—especially on a newer vehicle. At the very least, it should have been repaired or reflected in the price. When Scott finally called us back, he seemed annoyed that we had obtained better information and still refused to offer any kind of discount or take accountability for the condition of the vehicle. On top of that, their “$299 electronic filing fee” was inconsistent across multiple sources. We were quoted anywhere from $599 to $999 in the itemized breakdowns sent via email/text. That lack of transparency is a huge red flag. My advice: • Double-check every number they give you • Cross-reference fees across different listings • Ask multiple employees for photos and information • Do NOT rely on one salesperson The dealership overall felt disorganized, and I would not recommend or trust Scott Essex for any out-of-state purchase. We were not happy with the dealership in general. We wanted to pay cash and they really pressured us to finance which was to your benefit not ours. They did not know how to transfer a handicap licens We wanted to pay cash and they really pressured us to finance which was to your benefit not ours. They did not know how to transfer a handicap license plate which resulted in us have to go to the County Tax assessors office twice. We picked the car out within a half hour of our appt and didn't walk out of there for another 5 hours with all of the delays. Shane was wonderful during the sale but not so much afterward, as he said he would help us fix a preexisting broken sliding cover on the console. Then when I called him about it, he said it was sold as is. I called again to let him know we got it fixed and he didn't even call us back. Service after the sale is important to us. More
