However, I had a SCHEDULED appointment for a simple oil change, and ended up waiting 2 hours and 15 minutes...for an oil change...absolutely ridiculous. The mechanics all seemed to want to stand around and talk instead of doing their jobs (I peaked in a couple times). I get that oil changes are not a money maker, but I expected much faster service for a scheduled appointment. I wouldn’t consider coming back here. Wasting 1/2 a day at a dealership for basic services (that are priced high) is not something I want to experience again. More

I was provided a brand new rental car and the service is always impeccable. There was no hassle to use my warranty and I basically have a brand new car. 120,000 factory required service I have used this dealership for all the major factory required service intervals (30K, 60K, 90K etc...). I generally use the online portal to schedule I have used this dealership for all the major factory required service intervals (30K, 60K, 90K etc...). I generally use the online portal to schedule service. Unlike all other dealerships which use the EXACT same portal program, Family Hyundai generally cannot find my appointment when I show up. Other times, they admit that I should not have booked using the portal since it will allow you to book even though they are overbooked or extremely busy. Every other dealership that uses this program changes the available booking slots based on the service you select, waiting or loaner availability, etc... I have long since surmised that Family Hyundai simple turns off all those controls to accept the most number of appointments possible to potentially collect the most number of customers. So I generally book the earliest appointment to avoid delays or confusion. This particular visit, I dropped off the vehicle the night before, got checked in with a Service Advisor and waited to hear for completion the next day. Overall the Service Advisors and pleasant and efficient. I generally bring coupons for various discounts, while sometimes the advisors say that "we could beat this or that discount," which makes me wonder why not just charge less and reap the benefits from more customers using your service. The Service Advisors generally try and up charge some items, but overall are pleasant. During this service visit, I received email notification (via the MyHyundai App) that the car was starting to be moved and worked on around 9:30am (from a 7:00am appointment time), and I patiently awaited a call about the vehicle around mid-day. At about 1:30pm, after not hearing anything I called the dealership. I spent about 15 minutes on hold with the dealership's operator as she occasionally would come on the line to ask if I wanted to stay on hold or call back later. I responded that "I would like to know the status of my vehicle and so I will wait." She finally connected me with someone in the service department, who told me that my car was done. I asked why I didn't receive any notification, and he responded that your service advisor was on lunch break. Every other Dealership will send text and email notifications in addition to a phone call, but this one does not. I got dropped off around an hour after my phone call, got the bill, paid, and was out the door. I did a quick inspection of the vehicle and started it up. Upon startup, a TPMS alert told me that a tire has low pressure. Thinking perhaps this was tied to a rotation or balancing that was performed, I drove home. Upon getting home, I checked tire pressure and found the passenger front tire to be extremely low (20psi). Not seeing any nails or damage, I fill the tire to the tires standard 38 psi. The next morning, my wife started the car and noticed the same low tire pressure warning. She left the car with me and took another. After a few hours I took a look at the car and found the tire completely flat. I filled the tire and drove to my local tire company. I have warranties on my tires, so any issue would be covered. A tech found a cut on the inside sidewall of the tire. I could only assume that during rotation at the dealership, a bolt scrap or other damage caught the tire, and punctured the sidewall. There could have been something else, but I don't know. All I do know is while it was on the lot, the TPMS was indicating at low pressure. I had the tire replaced at no cost, and I drove home. That completes my review of this visit, and of the Family Hyundai Service center in general. While the Advisors are pleasant and efficient, I always get the sense that they want to hurry up and get you on the books for service, but then drop the ball on the follow ups and finishing touches. More
