This customer was not happy with the proposed resolution to his concern and unfortunately was unwilling to have any further reasonable discussion about it. This vehicle, with 24000 miles on it, went to an inspection station 7 days prior to the purchase date for Maryland State Inspection and we received it to sell 3 days prior to the sale date. Through appraisal, inspection, detail, pictures and demonstration - at no time prior to the customer calling was there a mention or notation of damage or imperfection with the windshield. As an effort of goodwill, we offered to have a glass company look at the chip and pay for a repair. 3 glass companies indicated the chip was too small and any attempt to repair would risk causing a crack. At that point we explained, had the windshield needed replacement prior to sale, the cost would have been reflected in the price of the vehicle, the same as body repairs. Again, as an effort to reduce frustration for an individual who had a demanding tone throughout, we offered to split the cost of the windshield if the customer felt it was necessary to replace. We were trying to come to a reasonable solution to an unfortunate situation. At no time did anyone suggest the customer was lying. When an individual with a demanding attitude gives an ultimatum-“you better or else…”-to do what they want or otherwise they will make denigrating comments on social media and the person or company doesn’t surrender, this is what happens. In the course of verbal threats and not meeting his demands, the customer hung up the phone. For obvious reasons, it is not our wish to sour what should be a positive experience and relationship. Sometimes situations occur, some for which we have no control, but we are responsive and will work to a resolution.

While it is not our intention to frustrate anyone or cause disappointment, there needs to be some clarification: This customer was offered a warranty but because of terms set forth by the finance company she was told she would have to pay for it separately or have a larger down payment. She declined and then signed and initialed 3 separate documents conspicuously stating the vehicle was “sold as is, no warranty.” When the question came up 2 months later, the dealer offered a concession and agreed to work with the customer to get an extended warranty, she was to respond but never did. 5 months later a drivability issue occurs. Now the customer “has dropped $1000” for repairs done at another shop, vehicle not fixed, then brought to this dealership, and after demands, statements inconsistent with facts, vulgar and disparaging language, dealership did not present a bill and suggested vehicle be taken elsewhere. It was only after an appeal by a family member that we agreed to look at the vehicle and found the customer installed incorrect spark plugs which was the cause of their problem. They were presented with a bill to replace 16 spark plugs - not gouged, not misled that it was something more complex. The facts reveal the real issues and speak for themselves. We can only rely on rational people to make their own conclusions. We're sorry for this particular customer’s misunderstanding or lack of coherence. As represented by our history, we went beyond the norm to ensure the issue was addressed reasonably.
