Fred Frederick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Easton responded

This customer was not happy with the proposed resolution to his concern and unfortunately was unwilling to have any further reasonable discussion about it. This vehicle, with 24000 miles on it, went to an inspection station 7 days prior to the purchase date for Maryland State Inspection and we received it to sell 3 days prior to the sale date. Through appraisal, inspection, detail, pictures and demonstration - at no time prior to the customer calling was there a mention or notation of damage or imperfection with the windshield. As an effort of goodwill, we offered to have a glass company look at the chip and pay for a repair. 3 glass companies indicated the chip was too small and any attempt to repair would risk causing a crack. At that point we explained, had the windshield needed replacement prior to sale, the cost would have been reflected in the price of the vehicle, the same as body repairs. Again, as an effort to reduce frustration for an individual who had a demanding tone throughout, we offered to split the cost of the windshield if the customer felt it was necessary to replace. We were trying to come to a reasonable solution to an unfortunate situation. At no time did anyone suggest the customer was lying. When an individual with a demanding attitude gives an ultimatum-“you better or else…”-to do what they want or otherwise they will make denigrating comments on social media and the person or company doesn’t surrender, this is what happens. In the course of verbal threats and not meeting his demands, the customer hung up the phone. For obvious reasons, it is not our wish to sour what should be a positive experience and relationship. Sometimes situations occur, some for which we have no control, but we are responsive and will work to a resolution.
