Unsatisfied with Misleading Service Center On January 12, 2017 I went to Freehold Hyundai on Rt 9 North to have an issue looked at with my 2013 Elantra. My service representative was Nick. On January 12, 2017 I went to Freehold Hyundai on Rt 9 North to have an issue looked at with my 2013 Elantra. My service representative was Nick. I explained to him that when I turn my key out of the ignition when my car is in park, it intermittently gets stuck and will not come out. He explained to me that there was also a recall on the car to replace the shifter clip which I agreed to have done and which would cost nothing. After having me sign a form stating that if there was nothing wrong with the car when checked, I would have to pay $125. The mechanics at Hyundai first replaced the shifter clip before looking at my issue the key. Little did I know that this shifter clip directly affects the key issue. If the car is in any gear other than park, the key could not be removed. The recall on the clip was due to a chance of the car not being completely in park. Some cars have actually rolled away when being placed in what the consumer thought was park and would also cause starting issues. Being that I did not know about this at the time I was there, I felt it very misleading and sneaky that the respresentative still went ahead to have the mechanics diagnositcally check the car for said issue with the key above. Knowing there was a recall on the clip; they should have been honest with me and not have me pay $125 to diagnose an issue that they fix FREE on a recall. I would really like to have my money reimbursed. However, I may have to go to the Better Business Bureau to help this avoid happennig to someone else as I feel this dealership is not reputible. They also tried to sell me a battery for $250 telling me that my battery failed a test... which passed later that day at Advanced Auto. I will never use this dealership again and will be giving my business to Sansone. More
