Freehold Hyundai had a great atmosphere from the moment I walked into the door. Kevin greeted me and went above and beyond to get me the best deal that he could, as well as all the other staff members. Ove walked into the door. We leased a new 2013 Hynudai Sonata from Freehold Hyundai on May 17, 2012. We decided after the first hour that we wanted the car, then spent the next FIVE HOURS waiting for Finance! We finally got the car, on May 17, 2012. We decided after the first hour that we wanted the car, then spent the next FIVE HOURS waiting for Finance! We finally got the car, and agreed to pay $4,000 as a down payment, with the understanding (in our contract) that Freehold Hyundai would use $1,040 of the $4,000 to pay off the Toyota Camry we traded in that day. Imagine our surprise when JUNE rolled around and we got a bill from TOYOTA for both our May AND June payments, with a late fee for May's payment! They NEVER paid Toyota!! We called Freehold and were told by "Pete" that he would "look into it", and that Freehold Hyundai would be paying off Toyota. As if that experience wasn't bad enough, we knew that our first lease payment would be due on June 17, 2012. As of June 12, 2012, we never received a bill for the payment...but we DID receive a call again from Pete telling us to bring our first lease payment to Freehold "so you don't incur a late fee." I asked why we would incur a late fee as we never got a bill. He said "oh something got screwed up in your paperwork." xxx??? We then called Hyundai Finance to ask if we should do that, and THEY told us we were not in their system anywhere. SO...to sum up... 1. Freehold Hyundai took 5 hours to finish a deal with us that should have taken no more than 2 hours. 2. Freehold Hyundai took a $4,000 deposit from us that included $1,040 to pay off our Toyota lease, and never paid Toyota. 3. Freehold Hyundai "screwed up" our paperwork (as per Pete) which resulted in our never receiving our first lease payment. 4. Freehold Hyundai is "looking into it"...4 times now! Our recommendation...do NOT deal with Freehold Hyundai...EVER! More
Bought a 2003 Volkswagon Passat on May28. Brought car home to find it infested with ants. Brought car back the next day to have infestation taken care of. Told car would be ready that day. Long story sho home to find it infested with ants. Brought car back the next day to have infestation taken care of. Told car would be ready that day. Long story short they had the car for 2 and half days and they said it was taken care of. Drove the car home to find it still had ants. Took the car to a mechanic and was told that work that was supposed have been done on the car (belts and oil leak in turbo were not done). Called and said we were not happy with the car and said we wanted to return it. Brought the car back on Sat., June 2. They said if we didn't bring the car back that day they might not take the car back at all. We brought the car back and asked for our $2500 deposit back. They said the office was closed and that the check would be cut on Monday. We weren't comfortable with that because they had the car back and we had nothing. They wouldn't even give us a written guarantee that we would get our deposit back on Mon. We called on Monday, no check. Called on Tuesday. no check. Called on Wednesday, no check. It is now Friday, June 8 and we still have not received any call or check from them. By the way, when you call there chances are you will not reach the person you want to speak to. You will be sent to a voice mail and they never return your calls. You constantly have to call and be insistent to finally speak to someone. We have reported them to the BBB and NJ consumer Affairs. Very good experience dealing with this dealer. Salesmen was very knowledgeable about the Sonata, but was not pushy. They gave me plenty of time for a test drive and answered all my questions. The trade in was very knowledgeable about the Sonata, but was not pushy. They gave me plenty of time for a test drive and answered all my questions. The trade in for my old car was fair and went very smoothly. The car was delivered quickly and was properly prepped. I would recommend Freehold Hyundai as a stop if you are looking for a new car. More
