Not impressed with cheesy sales tactic We went to Garber Honda as my wife and I were interested in purchasing a new Pilot. Although the dealer couldn't compete with the pricing I was quoted We went to Garber Honda as my wife and I were interested in purchasing a new Pilot. Although the dealer couldn't compete with the pricing I was quoted in the Buffalo market, the salesperson (Pete) passed on a suggestion from his sales manager (Andy) to have us come in for an appraisal anyway. It was put to me that it might be 'in my best interest.' With the thought that it wouldn't hurt to get another appraisal, we did take our vehicle in. I felt we were dealing in good faith. The appraisal took roughly 45 minutes. They looked our car over and somebody took it for a test drive during the appraisal process. Upon completion, the sales rep informed me that he would have a price to offer on Monday, after consulting with their 'foreign car specialist'. We had a Toyota for crying out loud. Last time I checked, Honda was considered a 'foreign car' as well. Upon getting back in our car, my wife noticed a good sized black grease smudge mark on her passenger seat (beige leather no less). How do you allow that to happen to somebody's vehicle during an appraisal? This wasn't an oil change or other mechanical work. Just complete carelessness. We were not too happy, but we didn't make a deal of it. On Monday, sales rep called me with appraisal value. An open ended appraisal with a high and a low number with a range of $1500 between them. I immediately felt this was nothing more than a ploy to get us back to the dealership- since they couldn't compete with the vehicle pricing we had been offered elsewhere. How can you not have a number for us after looking our vehicle over, presumably car faxing it, taking it for a test drive, and consulting with your 'foreign car specialist". This was the only dealer that couldn't or wouldn't give me a hard number for our trade-in. This dealer completely wasted my time and my families time with this cheesy sales tactic. I didn't appreciate that. My advice to you- before you purchase a Honda from Garber, get a price from them, then check out the U.S. News and World Report Best Pricing Program. Enter zip codes for Buffalo and Syracuse markets. We saved at least $1500 over what Garber offered, plus we received full value on our trade-in. No games. No nonsense. More

She was always positive and supportive and handled the deal the way I wanted. Great attitude, great support. I would work with her again in a heartbeat, and have already referred a friend to her. And the rest of the team at Garber was also terrific. Great experience, and I hate car shopping. More
