I came in looking at a specific car and took it for a test drive. Liked it but had a couple others scheduled, and I wasn’t going to purchase the first car I drove. I told the salesman this and he said no test drive. Liked it but had a couple others scheduled, and I wasn’t going to purchase the first car I drove. I told the salesman this and he said no problem (all on a Friday). After those test drives I told him I wanted the car, he said sure and to come in when I could. I found a ride which took an extra day, and when I called to schedule a time to come in I was informed by another salesman that the vehicle was sold. No response from my salesman when I tried calling and texting; but he did call back some time later saying he wasn’t aware that it was sold.. how that’s possible I’m not sure, but he then confirmed it. I was upset that I didn’t receive the courtesy of a call or text saying that someone else was interested.. just sold it out from under me. A day later, surprise surprise, the guy coming from out of state who they had “sold” it to couldn’t get the money together. They finally called me once this had happened. I told them since this was such a hassle and I felt like I was treated very poorly, I offered to pay cash in full if they knocked $1000 off the OTD price. Got $500 off the list price so in the end I saved around $650 when you add in taxes. I was happy to finally get the car but it felt like despite a great credit score and a cash offer, they were trying to hide it from me for some reason. I’ve never seen someone so hesitant to accept cash for a used car. The purchase took 2.5 hours as well; not sure if that’s normal or what but it was certainly exhausting just sitting around. More
