Emergence Service Visit While driving home from Jacksonville to Naples last Saturday, my 2014 GMC Sierra SLT developed an exhaust leak that got progressively worse...until it While driving home from Jacksonville to Naples last Saturday, my 2014 GMC Sierra SLT developed an exhaust leak that got progressively worse...until it became a real concern. Loud and smelly, it was near the engine under the hood. It needed immediate attention. I was heading across the state, near Okeechobee , where I knew there was a local Chevrolet dealer. I was hoping they would be open offering Saturday Service hours. I got there at 3pm, only one hour before closing time, but you wouldn't have known that. The service staff wrote me up, got the only tech still on duty looking at my problem while I had a coffee in the customer lounge. Within the half hour, I was talking with the tech, who had determined the exhaust header manifold had loosen from the exhaust down-pipe and two of the three nuts had fallen off leaving a significant gap in the normally airtight connection. He had found a couple of lock nuts that would "work" for an emergency repair, but, he also wanted me to know this would only be a temporary "fix". It would get me home, but would need the correct nuts installed as soon as possible. Well, that totally worked for me and shortly after, I was able to resume my homeward trek... ! I actually enjoyed the experience. It was a real pleasure to talk with the staff...the tech and service writers were friendly and knowledgeable, they made me feel "at home"... ...Really, I know this expression gets overused, and maybe is "the correct" thing to say, but I did feel at home. Like I knew these guys for much longer than the 30-45 minutes I was there. Small town friendly, like Naples used to be.
