Thank you for your feedback, Stanley. We would like to clarify a few points based on our findings and available service history. Your vehicle was not diagnosed for this concern at any Toyota dealership in January per TMS national service history, so there is no documented Toyota diagnosis addressing the issue prior to its arrival to us. During our inspection, we identified a gross EVAP leak still present. A smoke test revealed evidence consistent with impact damage that resulted in a cracked charcoal canister, along with signs of prior collision-related repairs. A CARFAX-reported accident occurred on April 3, 2026, which aligns with the damage observed as well as ECU data indicating when the check engine light condition became active. Based on these findings, the concern appears consistent with impact-related damage rather than the initial January warning. We provided a complimentary one-hour diagnostic and a loaner vehicle during the evaluation process at no cost to you. Our service manager reviewed these findings with you directly. While we can certainly understand the frustration associated with a newer vehicle being involved in an accident and we strive to provide a respectful environment for both our customers and our team, and we ask that all interactions reflect that standard. First of all, it wasn’t a one-hour diagnostic. I was there for 7 hours on 5.1.26. I didn’t hear anything from anyone for the first 5 hours and when I finally did hear from Michael Walker I was still there another 2 hours while they misdiagnosed the problem and replaced the wrong part so I left with the check engine light still on. Then they replaced it again Thursday and the check engine light came on again Friday after work. Then they finally found the actual problem on Saturday. But way before that, the light initially came on on January 24. It shows that in the ‘vehicle alerts’ screen. I had only had the car less than 2 months at that time. I made an appointment but the light went off. When I called they said ‘If the light went off, there’s nothing we can do’. On January 29 it came on again and stayed on longer. Again, I made an appointment but the light went off. When I called they said ‘If the light went off, there’s nothing we can do’. Then on 3.30.26, lucky for them, I hit a road hazard. Several days later, the light came on again. Not their problem now though. It MUST be the road hazard’s fault now. It seems the check engine light was never going to be their problem. They can sell the cars and make the easy money but they can’t stand behind them. I’m glad this happened honestly. I would have stuck by this weak company just because I liked the Hendrick name and fake peace of mind but now that I’ve seen what they’re really about, I’ll be looking for a more honest, reliable place to handle my family’s vehicles.
