I purchased a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser from Hendrick Toyota North Charleston on August 2, 2025. While the initial sales interaction was professional, the post-sale handling of registration and license plates was extremely poor. At delivery, dealership staff removed the license plate from my prior vehicle (a Land Rover) and installed it on the new Land Cruiser. I was explicitly told that the plate transfer was complete, that no temporary tag or registration was required, and that I could lawfully operate the vehicle. This turned out to be incorrect. The transfer was not completed, no temporary registration was issued, and I later learned I had been driving an unregistered vehicle based on the dealership’s advice. The dealership claimed an electronic registration submission had been made in early August, but no proof was ever provided that the transfer was successfully logged or completed. After I sold my prior vehicle on August 13, the unresolved transfer caused additional complications and financial consequences that should have been avoided. Communication after the sale was inconsistent. Management initially acknowledged that the situation had not been handled clearly and gave assurances that the issue would be addressed. However, follow-up was slow, responses became evasive, and responsibility was eventually shifted to third parties. This review is not about the vehicle itself, which is excellent, but about serious back-end process failures, poor follow-through, and lack of accountability once problems arose. I would strongly advise future customers to independently confirm tag transfers and temporary registration before leaving the dealership. More
