After being told by another dealer (who i shall not name here)that I could not test drive a manual transmission car as their policy was that most drivers did not have enough experience driving manuals so th here)that I could not test drive a manual transmission car as their policy was that most drivers did not have enough experience driving manuals so they would not let any one drive a manual, I cam down from Maine 3+ hours and meet Richard Tran. Rich as he likes to be called was wonderful. He let me drive the manual Clubman that I was looking at. I did not expect them to have a car on the lot with all the options I wanted but they had one that was close enough. It was the correct color and a manual transmission. After the test drive Rich took me down to meet the service manager Mark Ravin. I had requested this as I live so far away it is nice to meet these people that you will need to deal with a few times a year. Mark reiterated the same info about emergency service as Rich had told me, and that was that MINI USA had Roadside assistance that would take car of me and get me to the closest dealer for no charge if I had a problem. Well after meeting Mark in service and Giovani the sales manager I ordered my car and was told it would take about 5 weeks for delivery. They were spot on and I now have a great new car. The one service problem I have had was taken care of immediately and without argument. Herb Chambers MINI has been the best sales and service I have ever had for a new car. Thanks to Rich, Giovani and Mark. You guys are great. More
My girlfirends son and I stopped by Herb Chambers MINI to look at one after doing a lot of research on the MINI's. I had chosen the model I wanted and built it online but had questions as the web site did not explain everything. One of my big questions was about my dog. Would my 80 Black Lab fit in the car? I was moving from a large car to a small one and if my dog did not fit it would be a deal breaker. Rich asked if the dog was with us and I replied yes. I also told him that I hadbrought blankets with me to cover the inside of the car if he would alow us to see how wel she fit in the car. Rich agreed and we went out for a test drive and then checked to see how well my dog would fit in the car. She fits great and loves to go for rides with us. I can not say enough good things about Herb Chambers MINI and Richard Tran, Richards boss Geovani (I believe that was his name) was also very friendly and courteous. This has been the best experience purchasing a car that i have ever had an in have purchased 7 new cars in my 28 years of driving. None of the other experiences have have gone this easily. As I was ordering a car to my specifications i new going in that it would take some time (6 of the 7 I have purchased have been special order) and I was told to expect about 8 weeks wait to get the car. But to my surprise the car showed up in 5 weeks. I was over joyed when Richard Tran called me on a Saturday afternoon and told me that my car had just arrived. He told me that it would be ready for pickup on Monday anytime after mid day as they were working on getting the dealer installed options taken care of on a Sunday no less. Monday I picked up the car and Richard Tran spent two (2) full hours going over every option that the car had installed. He even paired my Bluetooth cellphone with the Hands Free System in the car. After this great experience I will definately go back and by another car at Herb Chambers MINI. More
We brought my wife's Mini in for scheduled servicing to find out when we arrived our reservation was never was entered. They said they'd shoehorn us in but we shouldn't wait around for it, so we returned t find out when we arrived our reservation was never was entered. They said they'd shoehorn us in but we shouldn't wait around for it, so we returned that night only to find that they stored our vehicle on the roof. It was locked up with no way to get to it. It took several hours to finally get it back. The worst part is that the brakes now shrill in warm weather (50+ degrees). We've had it serviced numerous times with hope it would be fixed, which of course has never happened. Too bad too. I've read about Herb Chambers and his climb to success and up until now I thought it done honestly. He may still be a decent guy but he doesn't employ people of the same caliber as himself if that's the case. More
Interested in a mini (as well as a civic, a civic hybrid, and a prius), I visited Herb Chambers Mini. I'm not sure of the salesman's name, but I think it was Richard Tran (he was Asian). Really informative and helpful, not at all pushy. He knows (and clearly loves) that car. If I decided with only my heart, I would have gone with the mini, I just love the look of the car and the design features, etc. Alas, my head took my in a different direction -- b/c of the gas mileage, the need for more expensive gas, and the ride (a bit noisy and I was too aware of every bump), I ended up going with a Prius. But I would highly recommend this salesman. (A note about his manager, whose name I can't remember: He wasn't great. A bit slick/stereotypical, once he heard the other cars I was thinking about he spent his time dissing them rather than talking about the positives of his car. It felt like he was putting down the desire to own a hybrid in general, and the car in particular. I don't know if I had continued to be interested in the mini if this would have eventually lowered my rating of this dealership overall.) More
In January 2008, I purchased a 2007 Mini C from Kerry at Herb Chambers. When I bought the car, I decided to buy the warranty plan on the tires for 895.00. It covers any flats you experience in the first five years of ownership or 3,000 in tire repair. When I bought the car I was told that seeing that I live in Rhode Island, Chambers would pick up and deliver the vehicle for any service. The other day I had a screw puncture my front passenger tire. When I called service they told me that they never heard of picking up the car and to call mini roadside. I called roadside assistance and explained my situation . They in turn called Inskip Mini in Warwick to see if they had the tire in stock and if they could take it in that day. That dealership was more than accomodating flat bedding my car and replacing my tire within a few hours. Herb Chambers has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I would not reccommend them to any of my friends or family. More

A number of entries have appeared in their new and used inventory however, every time I have contacted them they have a: just sold out even though the cars were just posted that day or b: the latest is they don't have the cars listed but hope to get them in in the future. Promised callbacks regarding inventory are made but never received. Seems a little questionable advertising what they don't have for sale. More
I have bought two MINI's from this dealership. The first one in 2003, and the second one in 2007. In both cases, I "built" the car online and ordered it to be custom made. All the people were cordial, friendly and knowledgable. Mr. Tran being the most technically knowledgeable of all. In both cases I traded in a car. I was satisfied in what they gave me for it. I also realize that if I wanted more money for them, I could sell them myself. I didn't want to go through the "hassle". The Service Manager, Mark Ravin, is very professional, friendly and always willing to be of assistance. I HAVE recomended this dealer to many people. I love the car, so much, that I bought another. And I really like the dealer. More
My husband and I visited the Mini dealership in June. None of the sales reps would even look at us. We waited patiently, hoping someone would come speak with us. At the time, we didn't know if that was how Mini dealerships were or if it was a Herb Chambers attitude. After visiting the Mini of Peabody, we now know that it's NOT a Mini dealership attitude--the Mini of Peabody was AMAZING--everyone goes out of their way for you! More
First of all, I can't say I would recommend or not recommend this dealer YET. Let me explain my situation. I have a car valued with kbb and Nada at 20k. Unfortunately, Herb does not do the brand of car I own. So Greg came down and gave me the barebones auction price, which is way way below wholesale, which is below trade-in (he didn't even bother to add any of the options). Well, they originally offered me 11k, and I was able to get them up to 14.5, but still darn too low. A week later, I went across to their Toyota dealer and they gave me 18k with very little effort on a Prius. I was very unhappy with the whole event and through friend's friend got Melissa's name. I spoke to Melissa, (Who manages the BMW/Mini, apparently), and she said bring the car in and we'll give you the best price for my car. I will know in 5 hours what the 'best price' is. As for the actual purchase, mini has no negotiations. You basically build it on the web, print it out and the price that's on the printout is what you get. No incentives or benefits so you get what you see. As for the sales person, Chris has been good to me. He's an honest 'kid' and I like that. The previous sales guy was a cocky guy with a chip on his shoulder. I don't know. Maybe that was because I am an asian, and he was and it was at the end of the day. What I can say is he was one of the worst sales person I dealt with. My girlfriend is almost certainly going to buy a mini as well so I am going through the 'learning' experience for both of us. We'll see how it'll turn out and I'll report updates. More
Ordered a Mini S, we were told it would be a year (ok), and 8 months later car was in. Ok, but bad timing, we live on Nantucket, but we can come in a month. I explained I couldn't get a ferry reservation to get the car over to ACK til a month hence, PLUS, it did come in earlier than they said. A month later I arrive at my arranged appt to get my car ($100 plane ride, $45 cab fr Logan) and I'm told by Norm, "Oh! Your car's not ready! We always like to meet the people first (get money), then do pick-up later." Hey pal, I'm not adopting a chinese baby...I'm buying a car!!" I marched into the manager's office(12 years old) and said 'I don't want to deal with Norm. I don't want him to get a DIME of the commission. And I want my car.' We "built" the car ourselves anyway (on line), so no salesman desreved a commission. Long story short: I had to go back a week later ($$$$$) and get my car. And who did the orientation?? NORM!! He was nervous as he knew what I'd said about him. I was BS. That pr#*k of a sales mgr did that just to see me twist in the wind. Stay away from Herb Chambers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More
