Amazing! This was the first time I had ever bought a car by myself. Marcos listened to my needs and budget. I have always heard that car dealers can be pushy. He took time to find out what car we had in mind and if it would suit our needs. He kindly let us take a few cars out for a test drive and explained all the safety features that the cars have. I highly recommend VW Catonsville! And if you want top class customer service....Marcos Escobar is the man you want to speak to! VW should be proud to have him working for them. More

We went to this location since it was not too far of a drive and their online inventory indicated they had a blue SE on the lot. When we arrive we were greeted in general and were introduced to Kunar (KP Patel). We let Kunar know we wanted to view the blue GTI so he went out to the lot to bring it up so we could see it. Kunar returned stating the car was not on the lot, so it must have been sold. This was disappointing as this was the reason we came to this dealership. Kunar then suggested we go for a test drive. We told him that a test drive was not necessary as we previously owned an earlier model GTI plus we already knew what the new models included that differed from our older one. Kunar replied that we had to take a test drive and we were like, Why? We know we like the car and would prefer to just cut to the chase to view pricing, financing and incentives. So Kunar starts asking for my personal information and my ID and is typing into his computer. As he is asking questions, my partner states out loud that we are NOT giving authorization at this time to run a credit check. We haven't even started working on the finance part of the process to know if we want to work with this dealership. He stepped away. He returned with Tyrone Greene, the sales manager. We explained to Tyrone why we were there and also why we did not care to go on a test drive. Since they did not have the blue car on the lot, we figured since we were already there that we could just go through the numbers to see what they could do for us. Tyrone was fine with that. We asked for numbers regarding the SE model. Kunar and Tyrone step away for quite a long time. They both return and put down some numbers. The numbers are ok so we ask about incentives, 0% financing, etc. Tyrone and Kunar step away again for yet another lengthy period of time. When they return, Tyrone sits down and explains the run down of the price points on the paperwork for the SE model. As he is explaining the costs, he gets to a line where they added in the lighting package on the car that was $950.00. I stopped him right there and said that the lighting package is STANDARD on that model and I wanted to know why he was adding that into the overall price. Tyrone then turned his attention to my partner who is male and continued working with my partner the rest of the time we were there. Whether intentional or not, by focusing the attention on my male companion it is a silent smack in my face as a female. I knew as much about the car as my mate because I was the one who would be purchasing the car...ME!!!. At any rate, Tyrone then turns to Kunar and says "Didn't you tell them about the lighting package?". Kunar's body and mumbled response indicates he is upset with Tyrone asking this question. I even POINTED OUT the lighting package was already standard on the SE because I had the dealership brochure in front of me, ,opened to the page that shows ALL the differences and options that are included with each GTI model. Tyrone and Kunar step away again to work on numbers. At this point we are quite livid because we have been waiting long periods of time just to work through the numbers and we have also called them out on trying to add extra cost to the vehicle based on an option that is already standard to the SE model. They both return and the numbers have not really budged plus we did not appreciate them trying to pull a fast one on us. We thanked them and Tyrone said to give him a call if we changed our minds. Then we left. Though it was disappointing they did not have the blue model on the lot, that is not what was so irritating. It was the fact that we were up front that since we were there, we wanted to see what they could work out number wise and not take all day having to hang out at the dealership. From insisting we take a test drive, to NOT letting us know they were going to check our credit yet we stopped them, to stepping away from us for incredibly long periods of time to work out numbers, to TRYING to CHARGE for an option that is STANDARD on the vehicle we were interested in, it was an incredibly aggravating experience. Learn to listen to your customer instead of sticking to your scripted psychology routine that is geared to wear them down until they sign because many customers like us will walk away. Also, don't assume your customer is not educated about the vehicle they wish to purchase and the variants of the models offered. Obviously you shouldn't add in an option that is already standard on the model in order to get more money for the vehicle. And lastly, pay attention to your actions because shifting your attention away from the female who was interested in purchasing the car to her male partner is definitely not going to reflect well on your dealership.
