DECEPTIVE AND DISHONEST BEWARE!!! Here is my story about my recent experience with Sims Honda of Burlington Washington. About four weeks ago I inquired about a 2003 Jaguar S-Type Vin Here is my story about my recent experience with Sims Honda of Burlington Washington. About four weeks ago I inquired about a 2003 Jaguar S-Type Vin #SAJEA01U03HM78544. The car was listed at about 7800 dollars via their website and autotrader. I have been looking for a Jaguar S type for about four years now. Fair purchase price for this vehicle via kelley blue book if the car was in mint flawless condition is $5225. I contacted the dealership and offered $6800. In a few hours a salesman by the name of Mike Olaughlin contacted me and said wanted me to come look at it. I stated that I would only come check out the car if we can agree on my fair price of $6800. A few hours later, the sales manager Todd Kummelman contacted me and said they could not budge on the price because it was such a clean car and they had no wiggle room. I did not bother to go look at the car because they were asking way too much for it. A few weeks later I checked the listing on their website and noticed the price dropped from 7800 to 7327. I contacted Todd again and said, I thought there was no wiggle room in the car Todd. I'm still willing to do 6800. Todd then emailed me back and said, you know what, I'm in a good mood today we will do $6800. I said great I will come down and check out the car. I told him that I wanted to finance it and that would have to get squared away before I came down to check out the car. He was able to get me a fair interest rate with whatcom educational credit union. I made my way down there a few days later and checked out the car without being bothered by the sales staff. The car was in very nice condition but not mint. I noticed that one of the vents was cracked, I wasn't able to open the hood ( later to discover this was my fault) and the plastic underbody skirt was sagging in the middle ( a simple fix). I also noticed that the transmission would move from park to reverse , drive and neutral after you depressed the brake. However, if you went back into park you would have to take your foot off the brake and then depress it again to go back into R,N or D. I found this odd as I have never seen any other automatic transmission vehicle do this. I contacted Todd and Mike and expressed my concerns. They told me that their service shop has gone over this vehicle thoroughly and its normal. I made a few calls and found out that this was just somthing this particular vehicle did and it was normal. The other issues were never address so I just left it at that. I contacted the salesman back and told them I would be down there the next day to test drive the car. If everything went well with the test drive I would be purchasing the car that day. The following day my father, mother and myself went down to Sims honda. Mike introduced himself. I inspected the car a bit further and found a few scrapes in the hood, a small dent from where someone tried to jack up the car and put the jack in the wrong spot causing the underbody to dent in a bit ( not a big deal because its under the car) and I found a scrape in the lower front air dam where someone bumped a curb. Still not a big deal to me because I really liked the car. I had Mike show me that the hood latch did in fact work and I inspected the engine. The engine was super clean and I was sold on the car. We took the car for a test drive when my father said what is that noise I hear. At first I thought he was just hearing the tires but as we accelerated it became louder and faster. The noise was a wobbling sound coming from the passenger rear. It got faster with acceleration and slower with deceleration. My mom also heard the noise as it was pretty loud. Mike claimed he couldn't hear the noise. I told mike that we should go back to the dealership because I just couldn't make a purchase on a car making a concerning noise like this. He stated that he didn't want to lose a sale if this was something they could easily fix. He talked to the service shop and they said that we should take it on another drive and really work the brakes. I knew this was not going to work but I humored him. Of course the sound was still there and we came back to the dealership. We got out of the car and he said that if it was something they could get resolved would I still purchase the car. I said for sure. He stated that if it was something really major like several thousand dollars that they wouldn't be able to fix it and they most likely just wholesale the car out, however if it was something minor they they would get it resolved. He shook my hand and said he would contact me once they took a look at it. He said he was not a car guy and didn't know much about them and asked me what I thought could be the problem with the car. I thought about it and emailed him once I got home. I instructed him to have the service shop look at the rear wheel bearing. A few days later he told me that they were putting a new wheel bearing in the car and that it would be ready tuesday but the price is now $7600 dollars because the cost of repair was $800 and I hope that works for you Jeff. I told him that no this would not work and I would not pay more than the $6800 we agreed upon. I stated that a wheel bearing does not cost 800 dollars to fix and that I was not going to pay retail shop pricing for something that is a safety issue and should have been noticed and fixed before even trying to sell the car. After this email I never heard back from Mike. A week later I emailed Todd Kummelman ( the sales manager) and stated that I was still ready to purchase the car at 6800 dollars as soon as Mike stopped playing games. They have now had this vehicle sitting on the lost for about 60 days. Todd never responded to my email. For about two weeks I checked the cars listing on their website and the price was still at the 7327 with internet pricing of $7077. At this point I was upset with their tactics to try to get me to pay for repairs that should have been addressed in the first place. I instantly put up a short yelp and google places review of my story and sent it to Todd and Mike. I also wanted to let the general manager Bobby Maynard know about what their salesmen were doing. He emailed me back about a half hour after my email and stated that I was completely entitled to my opinion and that my emails and interactions told a different story. I emailed him back and told him that this is not opinions this is the facts. I explained my story once again to him and he responded with, “ the bearing was fixed. Do you think that is free? the car sold last night to a very happy customer. Its just a car, as your emails stated and many are for sale. Please stop dwelling on this. I apologize it didn't work out for you.” I responded with , “ no more dwelling. I’ll gladly take my business elsewhere and write my letter to the owner. I told him that they were a bunch of sleazy salesman and that the car should have been fixed in the first place. I also told him that their tactics were dishonest and lacked integrity and that this is not an example of exemplary customer service like they claim to have. I told him that I will share my story on many more review boards. He then threatened me. He emailed me and said that I would be hearing from their attorneys for my slander. I responded back by telling him that he obviously doesn't even know what slader is because I was not the one telling lies. I am only stating the facts and the truth that is also back up by two other witnesses. That was the end of our communication. I also checked the website again and the car is in fact still available. This was just another bold faced lie told by another one of their sleazy staff members. I am shocked about how this business operates. I thought that this was going to be a pleasant experience but I was so wrong. I purchased my honda brand new from them back in 99 and experienced nothing like this. Im my opinion they have no idea what exemplary customer service looks like and I am sure the owner would not like these kind of tactics going on inside his dealership. Sad, just sad. More

Salesmen were OK. Sales manager really arrogant. GPS system had 2 year old data. Salesman promised to update free when we returned car for service, but he "no longer worked here" when we went back. Of system had 2 year old data. Salesman promised to update free when we returned car for service, but he "no longer worked here" when we went back. Of course nobody knew anything about the promise and they refused to honor it. Just to make it worse, they continually email me with offers to upgrade for $49. If that's the sales price of the new CD, how much can it cost the dealer to update me per the promise - $10?, $20? It would have been a really insignificant cost to avoid a really dissatisfied and vocal customer. We've recently replaced our other vehicle and certainly never even considered another Honda or especially this dealer. More
I rate all the areas above as high as they could be. I have never been to a car dealer where my needs, ideas and wishes were taken as seriously as they did. There were services and all items explained to have never been to a car dealer where my needs, ideas and wishes were taken as seriously as they did. There were services and all items explained to us. But, only the ones that made sense for our situation were highly recommended. I walked away fully trusting that we had made the best decisions and chosen the very best car and package for us. The staff was personable, kind and highly informed. I learned so much about the safety features of the Honda Accord and I am so confident now in the safety of the car we now own. All the financial arrangements were fully explained and all our questions kindly answered. The service offered at this dealership is top notch with 4 master level technicians in the service department. It is an all around very special dealership that I will highly recommend to anyone. More
