The next morning at 9:00AM Mike Mero called me at the open of business to discuss the vehicle. I verified the price as $4000.00 with him. I made him and offer and he stated he would speak with his manager and call me back within a half hour. One hour later (10:00AM) with no response, I called back. Mr. Mero told me that the price online was wrong and they would have to change it. I stated I understood and he asked me to call him back shortly as they were going to revise the price. At 10:30AM I called back and he gave me the updated price of $6000.00. I laughed and said, "well we both know what you guys paid for the car now”, to which he laughed and responded "yeah". I offered $4800 and he checked with his manager. Mr. Mero called back at 10:40AM saying the minimum price they could take was $5500. I stated this was a fair price and agreed to it but asked if in good faith for me having to travel across two states to get it if they could waive their $299 documentation fee. Mr. Mero stated, "let me check I will call you right back". I waited and waited feeling it was not my responsibility to ONCE AGAIN CALL HIM when he stated he would call me back. Believing that Mr. Mero and Hackettstown Honda were honest business people I gave until 3:50PM (4 hours later), just before close of business for them before calling them back. Mr. Mero stated, "my manager said it has to be $5500 with the document fee". I stated ok let's get this done but why didn't you call me back to tell me, I had to call you again. He stated, AND I QUOTE "actually I have someone in here now who may offer to pay full price so I was waiting to see if that would go through". About to lose it, I asked to speak with his manager and was referred to the Internet Sales Manager (ISM). I explained to him what happened and he stated he was sorry and it should not have been handled that way. I asked him to make it right by honoring the price $5500 that was made to me. He referred me to the General Sales Manager (GSM). The GSM who was less cordial than the ISM stated that they were selling it to someone else at the higher price but he felt bad and wanted to earn my business. I told him he had my business, just sell me the car they had given me a price on and I agreed to pay. He then changed the story from there is someone in here that may be paying full price, to, "that person who paid full price came in at 11:00AM and bought the car”. A blatant lie! At least Mr. Mero, while unethical, was honest and said he was currently trying to sell the car for more!! The GSM went on to say that, “we are so busy here we can’t just call everyone back right away”. Mind you on this date Hackettstown Honda had 256 new and used cars for sale. Not a lot of cars to be so busy you can’t call people back when you say you will, let alone honor a price and sale you stated you would do. I just dealt with OffLeaseOnly.com who has 1500 cars for sale at any given time and they call you back immediately, not hours later or in this case not at all. Anyway, the GSM stated he wasn’t willing to make it right and stated, “if it were you selling a car you’d want $6000 and not $5500”. I told him it was a shame that a dealer, especially a Honda dealer, would do business like this and that I would share my experience with others which is why I spent so much time writing this. I hope that I can help someone not waste their time with these guys or get deceived like I did. Happy car shopping! There are plenty of good honest dealerships out there. More

Hackettstown Honda is one of the nicest dealerships I have had the pleasure to work with. The services department is open 7 days a week and the waiting areas has numerous ammenities. I strongly recommend this place when looking for a Honda. They take the pain OUT of car shopping. I recently went to a car show that was sponsored by Hackettstown Honda and wasn't really looking to buy a car that day, but a Honda CRV that was on the lot caught my eye. I went inside and asked about Hackettstown Honda and wasn't really looking to buy a car that day, but a Honda CRV that was on the lot caught my eye. I went inside and asked about the price, and I'm glad I did. Warren came over to help me, and took me for a test drive and answered all my questions about the car. We sat down and "crunched numbers" and Warren and Solomon were able to get me pretty darn close to the price I was looking for. Before actually paying, Solomon threw in a few freebies that really helped make me feel a little special. I have heard Hackettstown Honda advertised on my friend Doc South's internet radio station, so going to the car show, I was thinking that if I saw a car I liked, I might take a closer look at it. I'm glad I did. Everyone was very helpful and friendly to me, and I felt no pressure to buy the car at all. They left me alone to make the decision on my own without hovering over me. More

Overall we had a very positive experience. Our salesman Justin was very knowledgeable, patient, genuine, and low pressure who made our buying experience very pleasant. It was the first time we didn't feel pressured into buying all kinds of add-ons after the deal was closed. He presented all the different options with a very low key sales pitch, which we appreciated. We left knowing that we can think about our options and make an informed decision one way or another without any pressure. We purchased a great car at a great price and left the dealership feeling that it was a win-win situation. More
