Hutchinson Kia/Macon has held a 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid EX for 8.5 of the past 9 months due to consecutive failed repairs. The consumer has been forced to maintain $5,572.08 in car payments, $1,710.00 in insurance premiums, and over $100.00 in emergency towing costs for an unusable asset. Sept–Dec 2025: KIa techs executed a 3-month misdiagnosis, blaming a verified new battery. They replaced a Hybrid Power Relay Assembly. CarMax/CNA records confirm the dealership never billed warranty and absorbed the cost internally, hiding an inherent component defect. Jan–March 2026: An identical hybrid malfunction reoccurred within 3 weeks. Tech Jeremy confirmed it was a direct continuous failure. Because the shop coded it as a separate issue, warranty provider CNA treated it as a new claim, forcing the consumer to pay a second tow and a $200.00 deductible. March 6, 2026: 7 minutes after pickup, a total hybrid system failure occurred on a high-speed highway. Staff offered no towing or road assistance, forcing a wheelchair user to dangerously idle at 15mph. The shop subsequently reported a false 50-mile drive to the warranty provider to obscure the failed repair timeline.Evidence Concealment: The shop issued an $8,827.11 repair estimate for high-voltage harness corrosion, labeling it "wear and tear." A CNA specialist identified a missing factory protective sheathing on the high-voltage assembly. Svc. Manager Stacey Weeks now says the wiring cannot be repaired without replacing the entire harness and stated the shop can't guarantee the car will not catch fire but tried to force customer to pickup car. Weeks further stated shop policy allows technicians to utilize personal mobile devices for inspection photos, resulting in the routine erasure of critical electrical safety evidence. Weeks formally committed to getting the consumer into another vehicle if consumer reviews were removed, then initiated a 3-day communications blackout once the reviews were hidden. Unresolved. KIA has completely failed to fix my vehicle over the last 9 months, bleeding me dry for $7,393.08 in dead assets and car expenses. I will not authorize the closure of this service ticket until their General Sales Manager presents a formal contract to absorbing the trade-in of $8,000 plus at least half of my wasted car payments/insurance ($3697) or provides me with my vehicle completely repaired and a signed, legally binding engineering safety certification in writing.
