Kiara, we know that repairs like this are frustrating, but we are thrilled that the extended warranty is covering the issue. A Certified Pre-owned vehicle doesn't mean that nothing will ever need repairs or maintenance in the future. It just means that it has met the certified criteria set forth and controlled by Mercedes-Benz. Maintenance issues on any vehicle can occur over time and, some without any warning signs at all. When the vehicle is certified, there is a specific check list of items that must be done, and this vehicle did meet the requirements for certification. Unlike an oil or transmission fluid leak, where there is evidence of an issue that can worsen over time, your vehicle's specific issue does not provide evidence that something will eventually stop working properly. This is not an issue that grew worse over time, and that could have been detected in a certified pre-owned inspection. It is an engine control malfunction that just occurred randomly and thus cannot be considered an issue that predates your ownership. If you have any further questions, please reach out to our service manager Mike Bowers. He'd love to walk you through the CPO process and better explain what that looks like and the benefits that it provides.
