4.18.15 To Whom It May Concern, We are very sorry that this client feels negatively about our dealership and the purchase that you have made with us. We go to great lengths to service and inspect everything we sell, its one of the reasons our company has been the leader in Customer Retention and Satisfaction. Our goal is to always provide the customer with all available information so they can make the most informed decision they can. In this particular case this truck was an older vehicle that we sold AS-IS off of our budget row. It was disclosed to the consumer several times in writing and verbally that the customer will pay all costs of repairs because its AS-IS. When I spoke with this valued client about their issues with the truck they explained that when they bought it they knew it needed some repairs and that it was as-is. They proceeded immediately to have a Ford dealer inspect the vehicle. Ford changed the oil and noted some repairs needed (nothing major). Then they took to a “friend” who was tasked with changing/installing a valve cover gasket. Upon completion of the “repair” this friend called the client and told them that he did complete the repair but now it needed an engine. The vehicle was fine except for a leaky valve cover and it spends time with this friend and all of a sudden it needs an engine. This is very important to our involvement in the solution. I explained to the consumer that even though it was sold AS-IS that I would have helped in some way but since 2 mechanics had done unknown and unverifiable repairs that could have potentially damaged the vehicle while in their care. In other words there are too many hands touching the vehicle after we sold the vehicle to point to our dealership as the party responsible. I asked the customer if they had inquired with their friend the mechanic as to what happened to the engine. It had a leaky valve cover and then all of a sudden a repair caused a engine to fail. I asked the client what I could do to help. The response was to put a new engine in the old truck. I explained that was not an option because of the circumstances. I did offer to do the work at our internal rate and get an engine and give that to them at our cost. They next thing they said I could do was to trade them out of the truck. So in an effort to help the client I would be willing to over allow or inflate the trade in value in order to get them there money back as a trade in. They agreed and headed in. When they got here they told the salesman that all they wanted was a full size pick-up that would tow a pontoon boat, RV and was 4 wheel drive for a payment in the 200 to 300 dollar range. We only had one truck available to fit the requirements but it would be well over the payment goal. They even test drove the truck knowing it was over their stated monthly budget. I worked a very favorable deal with one of our partner lenders and was losing $1894 on the truck in order to make the client happy. I honored my promise to try to trade them out and give them a very favorable deal. They did not want to afford that type of payment. It was a Saturday and our store is super busy and I do regret not being able to speak with them personally before they decided to leave. Our purpose for this response is to explain our position and by doing so convey the fact that I do take very seriously every customer including those with complaints or problems. I listened to their story and took in all the facts. I take very seriously any feedback from our clients. Our company has been around since 1917 not by being the biggest but by being a member of the community and by taking seriously the clients in which we owe our success. I do wish to help this client by giving them our cost on any repairs or by attempting to find another truck that fits their budget. Thanks for reading this.
