Service done OK...Now Tires is another question My Camry Hybrid needed 90,000 mile service. The price I was quoted at the dealer was higher than was quoted on the web site when I scheduled the servi My Camry Hybrid needed 90,000 mile service. The price I was quoted at the dealer was higher than was quoted on the web site when I scheduled the service, but this seems to be common practice every time I have them service it. The service advisor tried to tell me my tires needed to be replaced. I purchased them at Jay Wolfe in 2016 and they only have 35,000 miles on them (they are Michelin Primacys). One has been replaced by them due to a road hazard puncture and probably only has 30,000 miles on it. The tires have a 55,000 mile warranty. When the advisor mentioned tires in his sell job, he never mentioned Michelin's and was pushing other brands which I know via Consumer Reports are inferior to the Primacys. When I paid for the service, I mentioned that the tires have a 55,000 mile warranty and that if they needed to be replaced, there should be a warranty claim to be reimbursed/credited for the the tires not making the warranty. I was told with a straight face if I wanted to do this, I would need to go to an authorized Michelin dealer to get new tires and ask for them to file a warranty claim. When I got home, I checked Michelin's web site to find an authorized Michelin dealer closest to the 64153 zip code. Guess what came up first? Jay Wolfe Toyota was the closest authorized Michelin dealer. When I looked at the service report after departing the dealer, the tires had more tread left on them than I was initially told, and it looked like someone was trying to sell me new tires that were not necessary. So either the service advisor was fibbing to start with, trying to make an unnecessary sale, or when the service report showed the tires did not need replaced, he was trying to cover his behind. Either way, I am not happy and I suspect this will be the last time I bring my car to Jay Wolfe for regular service. More
