The ever hidden Great: they sent me a coupon for $20 off a brake job. Great: good mechanic noticed something not needing immediate but eventual attention. Great: Rodney, the service center assistant manager was one of the most accurate and helpful reps I've had in several visits to this Toyota. (Last guy was good, too.) I own two Toyotas, and love them both. Not so great: a charge of $24.95 for "customer pay shop charge for repair order," which sounds to me like one of those car company euphemisms for something they have to do anyhow - like write up what the mechanic is going to do for you. Would a repair order not have been written anyhow? I would have protested, but Rodney was such a nice guy, it would have been embarrassing for him to have go through the contortions he would have had to do to explain a charge the company required him to impose anyhow. End result: $20 discount coupon because I'm such a great customer; then a $25 take-back because I'm such a stupid customer. $25 profit for having the computer do its thing. These automotive charades get just plain tiresome. Hence, three stars: only because of Rodney Fouchee and the Jay Wolfe mechanic, whose name I neglected to ask. (He and the mechanic should be on the list below.) Otherwise, maybe one star for company policy so cutely presuming I'm a moron. More
