First experience w/ GM service dept in decades - EXCELLENT Recently inherited father-in-law’s 09 Malibu he purchased new in Louisiana, and only drove 35k careful miles in a decade. Had a great service advisor Recently inherited father-in-law’s 09 Malibu he purchased new in Louisiana, and only drove 35k careful miles in a decade. Had a great service advisor at Jim Ellis who understood the car is special to us. He worked closely with the service team to identify and recommend best options for the car’s needs. I have owned a Toyota suv for 20 yrs, and a Mercedes sedan for 25, so as you might expect I spend A LOT of time in service departments. Would have to rate JE service dept superior to either of those, and now am strongly considering (finally) trading for a new Jim Ellis vehicle based largely on this service experience. More
LONG road to finally getting Excellent Service Ultimately I was satisfied with the overall outcome of this appointment. Being the July 4th holiday there was an EXTREMELY long wait Thursday- Tuesday Ultimately I was satisfied with the overall outcome of this appointment. Being the July 4th holiday there was an EXTREMELY long wait Thursday- Tuesday before anyone even diagnosed my problem (which was replacing the dead battery). Excusing Monday when the dealership lost power and was closed. I feel my vehicle should have had AT LEAST an elementary review, and that the intake associate simply disappointed on this task. Also, I should have been notified of the low staff situation upon arrival (July 4th weekend) and been given a choice to go elsewhere. Communication was insufficient as I received no communication Thurs-Sat. I made callis Monday & Tuesday, but was unable to reach anyone until I drove to the dealership Tuesday to get an update on my car. I had brought my car in for MAJOR 65,000 mile service ONE month earlier. Apparently the techs didn't checked the battery (which is not uncommon as I was told). Also had to replace my water pump AGAIN which I had just replaced a little over a year ago. I was not happy AT ALL, but Vladimir was excellent in working with GM, Jim Ellis, etc. to find a solution. The dealership was able to make concessions to assist with the costs of this repair. Needless to say after 8 years of EXCELLENT service, this was the LEAST pleasant visit I've had.....Sighhhh......Ultimately all of my issues were resolved, and I'm thankful that things are running smoothly. More
