To Joe Machens: You have the finest All-Star team in the state. I was recently decided to get a Tyotoa 4Runner or a Honda Pilot. I went to the Honda dealership and found a really nice white 4Runner. The salesman informed me that he would have to ride along on my test drive. I declined his companionship. I went to Machens where I had bought my Ford Windstar from Rick Blank. It had been an awesome vehicle but it was time for a change. Rick is now in one of the Machens Columbia dealerships so I ask Scott Jackson in Jeff City if he would find a nice 4Runner for me. The very next day Scott called and said one had been traded at the Machens Mercedes dealership in Columbia & Rick would be glad to bring it down to Jeff City. Scott told me I could drive it for as long as I wanted. (a big difference between the Honda place that required a salesman to escort me). It was a 2011 black 4Runner that looked brand-new with all the bells & whistles. I traded in a 2011 Honda CRV and got a great overall price. I could not be any happier. I spend a fair amount of time researching vehicles that will accommodate our needs and wants. My wife and I were greeted by Doug Underwood and I told him what we were considering. He got the Explorer and knew my wife has a hard time finding a comfortable seat and that was the first thing that he wanted her to try. We took it for a test drive and decided that if the price was right we would purchase this vehicle. When we returned we sat down with Doug and he went over the price determination and since we did not want to trade in a vehicle it was a clean deal. We then discussed financing with Terry Bradshaw and he was able to get us a lower rate than I had from another source. When we finished we were met by Doug and he had the protection package scheduled and the Explorer would be ready by noon tomorrow. Probably one of the least stressful car buying experiences that we have had. More
