Deceptive Practices I started by using the Trade Valet to get some idea of the trade-in value of my car. The Kelley Blue Book trade-in estimate was $3194 and since it is I started by using the Trade Valet to get some idea of the trade-in value of my car. The Kelley Blue Book trade-in estimate was $3194 and since it is 11 years old this is probably a fair number. The Trade Valet estimate came in at $3595 - $5145. I checked inventory for cars I might be interested in and came up with 4. I then went to the dealer and we began looking for the vehicles and sure enough the two lesser expensive ones were "unavailable", probably sold or traded to another dealer. I drove one of the vehicles and was quite pleased with the size, acceleration, appointments and value. We then sent my car for trade-in valuation, waited about 20-30 minutes and the salesman came back with an offer of $1000. I was very unhappy with this and got up to leave. Of course the Sales Manager came over, reworked the deal and came up with an offer of about $3800. I told them I considered this deception as dishonest and refused to deal with them. I left. More
