I walked in If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I have had nothing but trouble with car dealers and for the first time I actually left happy. I walked in expecting this to be just another dealer trying to get money and not caring at all, but I was shocked at how well everything was done. I worked with Kelvin and Lynn and both deserve more than just 5 starts. They did everything possible to help me get a car after I was screwed by the last 2 I had. Amazing, professional, personal, fantastic, I have an million more to say but I'll leave it here. Thank you again guys, you are the best! More

No pressure salesman !!! This is the 3rd Rav4 that I have purchased from Johnston's Toyota and my second with Kelvin Guyadeen. This was by far the best experience that I have had, Kelvin explained all the new features and safety option on my new 2019 Rav4, and took extra time so I understood everything before driving off the lot. I am so happy that I choose Johnstons again for my new vehicle, I can't recommend them enough. More

Expect a lack of Communication & Responsibility As the Toyota dealership closest to myself, and one that my mother has bought all three of her past Toyotas from, this seemed like an obvious choice t As the Toyota dealership closest to myself, and one that my mother has bought all three of her past Toyotas from, this seemed like an obvious choice to purchase a certified pre-owned vehicle from. Unfortunately, the two employees I found myself working closest with seemed to not even want to sell me a car somehow, but we'll get into that soon. Everything began smoothly enough. Wednesday I arranged a test drive of the specific vehicle I spotted online and was happy with the car after test driving it. After discussing the estimated pricing/fees, I left that evening (as it was too late for me to talk to anyone from finance apparently) with my salesman's phone number and what I believed was the clear intentions and pre-made plans of returning the next night to finalize everything and purchase the vehicle. Before leaving I also left a deposit, as I was assured then the car would not or could not be sold. I wanted to pick up the car as soon as I could but was repeatedly told all the paperwork would take too long and they would be closed so I could not pick up the vehicle that night and left as I mentioned. As I could only arrive after work each day (around 530pm), when they close at 6pm on Fridays, I wanted to finish everything on the next evening (Thursday) and simply pick up the car after work on Friday. That day (Thursday) I texted Andrew and let him know of my plans to pick up the car Friday evening and if it was okay to leave a car (my other vehicle) there overnight into Saturday morning. Additionally, I picked up a certified check from my bank and spoke with him to confirm the proper addressee of the check that day as well. All seemingly well. That evening I spoke with John from finance. For some reason I was told they could not find me in their system when attempting to check my credit. Something was wrong with my credit apparently, and John said he couldn't get in contact with the companies or something similar. To condense this next part: I spent some time speaking with the credit companies, found I needed to re-verify my ID by sending in some documents. My mother also arrived this night, and an alternative plan discussed with Andrew was that we could simply put the car in my mother's name and let her technically purchase the vehicle. Andrew went and took a copy of my mom's license and we were about ready to go through with this new idea when Andrew came back with an update from John that apparently all 'the banks were starting to call him back' after his initial inquiries, so it might be possible for them to retrieve my credit after all. This was good news I thought, and we were told that John would contact me tomorrow to let me know what they said and to see what rate I qualified for as it was getting late tonight. So I went home. Great right? Well, Friday comes and I hear nothing all day, eventually messaging Andrew with my concerns of never hearing anything from John all day. No response. Saturday comes and I try messaging Andrew again, and again no response. They were open on both of these days, but closed on Sundays, so I decide to simply call Monday morning (it's important to note I work Wed-Sun, having Mon/Tues off) and try to iron out everything then and drive home that night in my new car. I had a deposit on the car, so I was not worried. I call Monday morning and get told Andrew is off today, that's fine, just let me speak with John, he's who I was told was supposed to contact me anyway. I'm not sure if Andrew just lied to me, but it seemed John did not try to do anything further with what I already knew happened with my credit on that Thursday night. I told him it's whatever I will just have myself and my mother come in today and we can put it in my mother's name instead. Somewhat rudely I'm told by John how he's just the finance guy and I can't come in today because Andrew is off and he's the salesman, and apparently no one else there was capable of helping me somehow. Frustrating, but it's whatever. I have off Tuesday so I'll just come in tomorrow. Tuesday comes and I call Johnstons twice only to get put through to Andrew's answering machine. I choose to text him instead with my intentions about coming in tonight to buy the car. Andrew decides to remind me I chose not to take the financing through Toyota so I'm responsible for finding my own financing. So I have to remind him how I was going to go with our alternative plan of getting my mom approved through Toyota instead like we discussed on Thursday. Then Andrew tells me we can't do it today either because guess who's off? Yep, now it's John's day off. Then Andrew decides to explain how these things are a process and I need to give him some notice instead of trying to set it up a couple of hours before hand. In no uncertain terms I then proceed to explain what I've explained above - how I've continually tried to receive updates and move us forward every single day. Andrew then says he had no way of knowing what day I wanted to pick the car up because I never told him during our talks. Uh, scroll up to when I made it clear I was trying to pick it up LAST WEEK maybe? Suddenly Andrew also remembers we were going to try financing through my mom's credit and tells me I need to fill out an online credit app. We (my mother and I) simply assumed we would just be able to come in and speak with someone from finance (like I did the first day with John - it takes like 10 minutes). According to Andrew, we also could not come in today because ONLY John was capable of helping us, because he had all 10 minutes worth of info I gave him and was the "only person capable of running your guys credit." Ok, whatever, this is getting really frustrating now. Clearly they are not communicating with me OR even between each other. Andrew informs me he'll have the car ready for tomorrow and submitting the credit app for my mother was the final step on my part. We square this away early Tuesday morning. Later that evening I decide to re-confirm that I would like to drive home with the vehicle tomorrow evening and I'm told no problem John will fill out the paper work tomorrow. Great. Annnddd then the next day (Wednesday) comes. 10am Andrew texts me to let me know they sold the car I was attempting to buy the entire last week, he also tells me he has two other similar cars he could tell me about if I was interested. Uh.. uhm WHAT!? I was speechless, what even was the point of the deposit? How were they allowed to sell the vehicle? How long ago was the vehicle sold? I was very clear in attempting to move the process forward every day, how could they sell it to someone else? I just didn't understand. I explain to him basically what I explain above, but obviously in a much shorter form, as he was fully aware of most of the story already. I saw his text right away and sent my thoughts to him (filled with many of the above questions) right away and... nothing. He just didn't respond. Hours pass so I figure alright screw it and 4 hours later send a text asking about when my deposit will be refunded. And nothing. In between this time my mother also made a call to the dealership, furious as you'd expect, and spoke extensively with the sales manager - after they first failed to call her back for quite a few hours as well of course. Eventually I'm told by my mother the sales manager reconciled and started telling my mother something to the effect of giving her son (me) a really good deal, and that Andrew will be contacting me. I myself am furious and sort of mindblown still over the whole process, but figure alright I'll send him another text asking about these two cars because my mom wants me to give them one more chance. And you may have guessed it already, but of course I got nothing. No response once again. Alright, forget these guys, this salesman is clearly not interested in helping me in any way, shape, or form. Next morning I go to dispute the charge on my credit card to refund my money. Then a few hours later Andrew finally writes back - completely ignoring the last like 8 messages and multiple questions sent over yesterday - and asks if I found any cars on the website I was interested in. Yes. This guy was serious. Absolutely no mention over anything that occurred yesterday. I couldn't believe this guy couldn't even apologize. The night before I went to a different Toyota dealership (you know, since they sold the car I was supposed to be driving home that night), and found a vehicle that fit my needs and began the purchasing process there, so I was no longer interested in playing any more games with Andrew. I let him know (quite respectfully in all honesty) that I was shocked he still expected to have my business after jerking me around this whole past week, informed him I was buying elsewhere, and once again requested for my deposit to be refunded. You'd expect at this point he'd finally apologize for screwing up in some capacity. But nah. He hits me with the "I'm sorry you feel that way, if you are that adamant about not buying a car here that's fine. " comment. First off, uh yeah obviously it's fine, you're the one who's supposed to be convincing me to buy a car from you. Second off, how about taking some responsibility for your actions here instead of acting like such a tool? I just couldn't believe the audacity of this guy in particular. I can go on, but honestly if you've read this far you've gotten enough of my opinion on this situation and enough to form your own on these shifty people. Complete waste of my time due to their negligence, irresponsibility, and inability to properly communicate between themselves and the customer. I expected so much better. More
