I don't think there's much to say now. I told you it was making a rotational noise that I could hear even at parking speeds on gravel, that was much louder at 30+ mph, and that was louder when curving to the right than left. That's almost always a wheel bearing. Nobody there test drove the car or they'd have heard it instantly. The wheel wasn't loose so you said it was fine. I trusted that and the next week drove round trip to Boston on it to pick people up at the airport. This could have been a major safety issue. Two weeks later, I spent the day waiting at another shop. I told them you said it was fine and I thought you were wrong. They confirmed exactly what I thought. It took less than 5 minutes to diagnose the driver's front wheel bearing. We ended up replacing the wheel bearing, a stuck caliper, and a ball joint on that side. Once the new parts were in, the problem was solved and the car is as quiet as it is supposed to be. Failing to diagnose both the caliper and the wheel bearing is, to me, a serious safety concern. When I take a car to a dealer and the labor rate is 1/3 higher than other shops, I would think I'm getting quality and care commensurate with that rate. The service was "oil and filter, rotate the tires, and inspect the vehicle". I have to wonder how much rotating or inspecting actually was done. I have no way to know.
