I had been shopping for a vehicle for my daughter all weekend. Lia Hyundai of Hartford was currently running an ad that I thought I would check out. I drove into Hartford from Vernon at around noon and received excellent service from Kevin Savage. I thought that I would check Key Hyundai in my own town before making a decision (even though Jill Merriam's radio ads are painful to listen to) and I was greeted by a salesman named Bob. Bob quietly offered me a seat and I began to explain what I was looking for. In contrast with my recent visits to other dealers, Bob Dimanno never opened his laptop nor did he lift a pencil to give me any figures, even after I told him that I'm familiar with the appearance of the vehicles and that I just wanted to crunch numbers. He then sat still and completely quiet. Wow! I asked 2 more questions, took notes, and said that I'd be shopping around. I felt degraded and demeaned by that visit - that I wasn't worth his time nor energy! And I determined that even though I had originally thought that I'd give my hometown dealer a chance, I would certainly not be buying from Key Hyundai. Upon returning home, I attempted to call the "sales manager" to voice my negative experience. After 4 calls, I finally reached a person and I asked to speak to the sales manager. He, Sal, said he was the manager. I gave him a full report of my disappointing visit. Later, as I looked a bit closer at the website, I learned that Sal is just a salesperson just like Bob and not a manager! Do they take us for fools? More
This is the second car I've purchased from Key Hyundai. Ed has been a great help during both visits. Sal worked out all the numbers, and Jon went over financing options with me. My wife and I came this dealership off of an add we heard on the radio, and at the time we were looking for another car because ours was rundown. My son was driving his 2012 Hyundai Veloster from our Home in NJ to college in Massachusetts this afternoon, when it broke down leaving him stranded in traffic on Rt. 84 in Vernon, CT. We had the car towed to Key Hyundai, I called ahead and spoke with Chris Then, the service manager, and he reassured us the as soon as the car and my son got to the dealership he would have someone look at the car and if necessary get him on his way in a loaner car. I would highly recommend this dealership, because of the professional staff that welcomed my son on a Saturday afternoon in a snow storm, and moved his disabled car from the tow truck to a service bay and brought him a loaner car inside the service area so that he could transfer his belongings inside, and quickly got him back on his trip to college. We did not purchase the car at Key Hyundai, and they treated my son as if he were a long time returning customer. More
