"Customer service "

- Donnyjd

This morning we went to Kia with the intentions of visiting the Service Department with a “rattling issue” we had with our 2016 Sorento. They serviced our car only to find out that our engine was shot! In total disbelief we went and talked with Rich Purdy (our original salesman 3 years ago)... as we were venting to him he told us it will be ok. We tossed around options and spending 7,000 on a new engine did not seem feasible, he talked to us extensively and we went and looked at 2019 Sorento’s. I cannot say enough about his care and concern for our situation! We found one, of course! As we were signing the paperwork Tyler (sales manager) came over to tell us that our car was still under warranty and if we did not want to purchase new... that we were not obligated to the contract! That blew us away... I cannot say enough (again) about the integrity of this dealership. We chose to drive away with a brand new 2019 Sorento. Thank you to everyone that helped us today in our time of freak out panic!! Thank you again... Donny and Leslie Davison

"After one year, forte has catatrophic engine failure"

- Jester1010

I bought a Forte here at this dealership about a year ago. The sales team was great, and worked with me to fix an issue with the engine before I took it home. Last week, however, while driving, the car stalled while driving at freeway speeds, and the power steering and brakes would not work. I was able to avoid a serious accident, thankfully, and after rolling to lower speeds, I was able to use the emergency break to stop. After this, the car would not start, and I had to have it towed. After investigating, they found metal shavings in the oil and found that a rod bearing had failed. This would require a new engine. Since my car was just over 100,000 miles, they would not entertain the idea of a covering any of it via a warranty. This is frustrating, because if this engine failure happened a couple months ago, it would have been under the 100,000 mile threshold for a warranty, and more importantly, I could have easily been in a serious accident because of the issue. After looking online, I found I was not the only person who has had catastrophic engine failure with their Kias due to the same problem. In fact, a couple years ago, Hyundai/Kia extended warranties on some cars to because of this issue. Long story short, It will cost about the same to replace the engine, as it would to buy another 2012 Forte. I wish they would stand behind their cars, and help me out a little bit. I understand paying for maintenance. Cars have wear and tear, things break, and parts need replacing. However, being exposed to a dangerous stall like this, only to need to spend thousands in replacing the engine, due catastrophic engine failure after one year of ownership and a total milage just outside the waranty window, is pretty devastating. I can't afford a new engine; I just bought this a year ago, and I will probably need to sell the car to a junkyard, since it's too much to pay for a substantial engine rebuild. I have had problems with cars before, everyone has, but this is the first time that a malfunction was potentially dangerous enough to have me seriously injured or killed. The sales team were very friendly and helpful when I initially bought the car. But after learning that this has been a known issue, and being told that It wouldn’t be covered at all, I am very disappointed and overwhelmed.

"If you want to lose money, go here."

- Randymyron

There is a recall on there faulty motors. Mine blew up one day. They did everything in there power to not cover the problem. Today I took back a brand new part to get my $300.00 back, and was told it was over 90 days and I couldn't return it. So I'm out of a little over $5000.00. Thank you again KIA.

Kia of Puyallup responded

The part was a Special Order part and was well over 90 days since it was from 2014. The motor stopped working due to it being run out of oil. Manufactures will not ever warranty something that was self-inflicted. Since that time Kia does have a service bulletin out on some motors. Even though the motor was run out of oil if you bring the vehicle in, and we perform the test, it may still qualify for the bulletin repair at no cost to you. – Ryan Sawyer, President

With the help and guidance from Rich Purdy, I was able to trade in my old car for a newer car without any hassle or confusion on the entire process. Everyone at Kia of Puyallup was friendly and willing to help. Would highly recommend anyone looking for a new car to visit and ask for Rich.

"Disappointed"

- Kimberly Scolaro

I am disappointed I thought I would get taken good care at a dealership but I was wrong. Well let's just to say with the dealership in Puyallup. I brought my car in on Sat to get an oil change which is over priced. However the little sticker on the windshield when they pealed the old on off the didn't even clean it to put the new sticker on they just put the sticker over the torn on on the windshield. Now my reset button doesn't even work. and now everything reads in foreign language.

"The customer service in the parts department stinks."

- kcandcoley

Visited the parts department for a roof rack and fog lights. Was given the incorrect parts for both and had to make a repeat visit. Parts department was unconcerned about their error and the inconvenience and offered poor customer service.

"great job."

- lightbulb

I had quick and great service at Kia of Puyallup. They followed through during some major car issues that had multiple small czuses. They didnt quit until they new everything was right. A special shout out to Rich Purdy in sales (I was dealing with service) for his friendly and helpful greetings. When we are in the market for a new car, you are first on our list.
