OUR HISTORY:
Edward and Tyyne Lahti, a couple of young Finnish immigrants, founded the Lahti family business in 1928. Ed had received about ten years of orientation to the automobile business as a laborer in new vehicle manufacturing plants in the Cleveland area. Having learned the trade of metalworking, the thought of using this skill independently became an exciting idea, which eventually led the young couple to Leominster to open their very own auto body repair shop. And so it began, Leominster's first body shop, then known as "Fix-It Auto Body." Their reputation grew as quality service satisfied local residents. Their motto was "If we can't fix it, give it away."
The early years were not easy years; first the Depression, and then World War II. The war became frightening in a very personal way when their oldest son, Edwin, was drafted into military service and shipped to the Far East. By this time, there were three other little ones at home: Benjamin, Daniel, and Rachel, requiring Edward and Tyyne's attention as well. The end of the war, however, brought a sense of joy and serenity, and even success. Their son was delivered safely home from the jaws of the enemy and was working in the family business with his dad.
As the years passed, the business grew. Used cars were added and by the fifties, the Lahti's had acquired a new car franchise selling Nash vehicles. By the time the sixties rolled around, the two younger sons, Benjamin and Daniel, had also decided to pursue their careers in the family business.
It wasn't long before a merger of Nash and Hudson companies became known as American Motors, manufacturing interesting new products like Ramblers and later more exciting cars like Javelins and AMXs. By 1970, American Motors owned Jeep and consequently, the Lahti Dealership was on a whole new course. Later, American Motors consolidated forces with Renault to produce passenger cars, but Chrysler Corporation bought it all in 1987.
Long before this time, the elder Lahti's had relinquished control of the business to their three sons, each one overseeing specific areas of the business. Unfortunately, life consists of valley experiences as well as mountaintop. Beginning in the fall of 1992, the family found themselves in the valley for a year and a half, suffering the loss of both parents and their younger brother, Dan. However, life did go on.
In February of 2002, Benjamin's Son-in-Law, Jason Fournier, joined the business. With his arrival, Lahti's has entered into it's third generation and into the age of e-commerce.
The evolution of a family business from 1928 to the twenty-first century, a period of mind-boggling technological advances, makes for quite an adventure story. However, there are some things that do not change - must not change! The Lahti family is proud of its Christian heritage, with a personal philosophy as well as a business philosophy: that a faith in the Sovereign God is foundational to the success in all aspects of life.

We had been searching for one with certain options already added in, but also slightly used. We happened to drive by Lahti's and there it was! It was a Sunday, so they were closed because they still believe in Sundays being family days :) I went home, emailed to inquire, and by early Monday morning received an email reply from Dianne Lozeau, who was so friendly, helpful and down to earth. We went for a test drive and were welcomed as if we were a part of the family by all the employees that day making the experience stress free. The employees are so nice, no one is pushy....just friendly! Dianne was more than happy to take us out to the car and show us all the details, even removing the roof panels to open the sunroof! They all pitch in and help each other out, it's nice to see that. Yesterday, I called with a question and got Jay, he was more than willing to listen to my concern and once that was done, we talked for 20 minutes about our families and life. No one makes time for the small stuff like that anymore, I find it very sweet that they show interest in getting to know their customers. You will not be disappointed if you visit Lahtis, and you won't be made to feel guilty if you don't buy anything. Go for a great buying experience and some friendly faces! Oh...I also found out that one of the ladies in the office is my neighbor, so we had a lot to talk about too! More

Best car buying experience ever.....hands down!!! I needed a new car right away due to my old car's engine suddenly burning up. I worked primarily with Dianne, but Jay Fournier was also involved in making my buying experience fantastic. The folks at Lahti's care that they meet your needs as a buyer, but more importantly they believe in building a relationship with you that will continue long after you have left their lot. I had some certain terms I needed met in order for my deal to work, and they met every one of them. They made me feel important. They listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions. They explained everything to me as each step of the process took place. It was the best car buying experience I have had, and this was my 9th car purchase in life!! I have honestly been back to see Dianne and Jay a few times since, and will continue to stop in if I am in the neighborhood....Just to say hi!! These are great people. Lahti's is a dealership with the integrity we are all hoping to find when looking for a new car. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.....and I do....all the time! More

Great Experience! I was not planning to buy a car but was forced to when my car was totaled - the result of another driver who fell asleep at the wheel. (Most importantly, no one was injured) I was now faced with having a car payment - my car had been paid off a year and a half ago. Usually when you set out to buy a car it is a planned and exciting prospect. This was unplanned and the result of an unfortunate event. My husband and I went to a dealership and test drove three used cars and were supposed to go back the next night but I had seen a Jeep Cherokee commercial and liked the way it looked. We went online to the Dealerrater website to research dealerships and saw that Lahti's Jeep in Leominster, MA had an excellent rating. We abandoned the idea of a used car and didn't go back to the other dealership. My husband called Lahti's Jeep the next day and spoke to the General Manager, Jason Fournier. He had a great conversation with him and liked him very much. My husband made an appointment for us for that night and told him we wanted to deal with him directly. He was happy to accommodate us. We test drove a Cherokee and I loved It! Jason was so great to work with. He gave us a little history of the dealership and made our unplanned car buying experience the best it could have been. He was very thorough in explaining the benefits of having a Jeep and all of the different options available. He took the time to get to know us so that he could make recommendations based on what made sense for us. It turns out they didn't have the color I wanted and Jason explained that they could find the car in the color and with the options we wanted. Within no time he had located and acquired the car. Jason also respected the fact that we had busy schedules and arranged for everything to be done in one visit rather than requiring us to make several trips to the dealership. While we were there we met a sales rep named Brian who was able to answer questions about features and options. A couple of times I had to call with a question and Brian has been fabulous as well, eager and willing to help in any way he can. Jason has followed up with me since I picked up my car 2 weeks ago just to check how I am enjoying my Cherokee. The dealership has a reputation of being a family owned and oriented business. We feel like we are part of the family. We have been treated very well and have every confidence that we will continue to be treated that way. I can't recommend Lahti's Jeep highly enough. They are professional, warm, caring and very respectful. Jason and Brian are two of the nicest people and I know I can count on them to do right by us. As a General Manager, Jason sets high standards for selling a quality product. He also sets the tone for what he expects from his employees so that customers have the best car buying experience. The relationship he establishes with customers ensures that the positive experience continues beyond the day you walk out with the keys. A big thanks to Dealerrater for leading us to Lahti's Jeep! From the time of purchase thru to service you can not find a better I have purchase 45 "brand new" cars; the last 5 from Lahti's Jeep in Leominster. From the time of purchase thru to service you can not find a better dealership. Locally owned everyone goes above and beyond to provide superior customer service. Even after your service you always get a follow-up call a day or so later to make sure you are satisfied. With all the dealerships I have dealt with over the years, I have never received the service that Lahti's provides. Sales is friendly, not aggressive. The depth of knowledge in the service department is unbelievable. Lahti's Jeep in Leominster truly understands "great customer service" and realizes that every customer is important and deserves the best experience they can offer. Everyone is treated like family. This is a family owned business that has been around since 1928, and I can see why. My salesperson, Fred Perla's years of experience made the entire process fast, painless and personal. Test drove on Monday, took delivery on Wednesday. Fred was my single point of contact for the sale, financing and delivery. This differs from my previous vehicle buying encounters where you were passed from sales to finance to someone else at delivery time. The price given for my trade-in was more than fair based on my research of KBB and NADA values. I had previously purchased a Jeep here in 2003, and this is the way Lahti's does business.
