I needed to buy a used car within a week of this accident, which was really difficult, because I am single and the concussion/ptsd were making it very challenging to drive, as well as to go online and vet all the used vehicles in my price range. I had a poor experience at another dealership, and I was feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable when I called Lee Auto Malls about an online vehicle. The person I spoke with connected me with Robin Cummings. I had a great experience with her. I felt that she understood immediately the situation that I was in. She helped me understand what it meant when a used car had been used in a fleet… and steered me toward a vehicle with a much better servicing record. That car was in Auburn, and when I told her that it was going to be too difficult for me to drive to Auburn given how recent my accident was, she had the car delivered to Ellsworth. I felt I had a friend who was helping me find the right vehicle and not trying to hustle me… or worse, take advantage of my post-concussion confusion. I had an incredibly positive experience under some really challenging conditions, and I am so grateful to have worked with Robin. She was solid, down-to-earth, clear, compassionate, and conscientious in all her communications with me. Sharp and funny and modest… but one hell of a saleswoman. Extremely pleased! I had very little to offer as a car buyer. Not much for a down payment, less than stellar credit, and a trade-in that I was afraid might actually cost I had very little to offer as a car buyer. Not much for a down payment, less than stellar credit, and a trade-in that I was afraid might actually cost me extra to have hauled away. I needed - *needed* to get a new car though, as that old one was quite literally falling apart around me. I popped over to Lee's Brewer location to see if there was any possibility at all of getting into something that was at least manufactured in this millennium. I explained my situation to Terry Good, told him that I knew I wasn't bringing much to the table, and asked if there was any hope at all. The short version is: yes, there was indeed hope. Terry rather quickly found me a 2017 Hyundai Elantra, a former rental car that's in really great shape, just with the kind of mileage you'd expect from a rental. I was perfectly OK with that. They accepted my meager down payment, gave me $100 for the rolling scrap pile I drove in with (and 100% seriously, I would not have blamed them one bit if they hadn't taken it), and got me financed under terms that I could live with. Just like that, I got out of a car that I wasn't always even sure would stop when I hit the brakes, and climbed into a nearly new, modern, safe car with some pretty nice options. I'm still a little bit shocked at how easy the whole process was. I wasn't always this...financially unstable...and I'm a bit of a seasoned car buyer. I'm also naturally distrustful of sales people, but Terry didn't even blip my radar with the slightest hint of any cliche used car salesman stuff. He was up front and honest with me the whole time we were talking, he never once pressured me into anything, and he happily showed me all the numbers as they came in so I could do my own math to verify them. It was a very refreshing experience, and the fact that it ended with me driving away in a new car means everything in the world right now. Thank you to Terry Good, and thank you to Lee Auto. I truly, truly appreciate what you've done for me! More
