LEAKING TRANSMISSION for a Honda Pilot with less than 59,000 miles and just over 5 years old. Purchased a 2016 Honda Pilot from Leith Honda in October 2015. I had this vehicle serviced regularly at anot 59,000 miles and just over 5 years old. Purchased a 2016 Honda Pilot from Leith Honda in October 2015. I had this vehicle serviced regularly at another reputable mechanic. In March 2020 my mechanic documented leaking from the transmission case and suggested to follow up at the next service. Due to COVID and lack of travel we did not need another oil change until November. When I took it to my mechanic the transmission casing was still leaking and suggested I take it to Leith Honda since it had less than 60,000 miles. When I took it to Leith they said the bolts on the transmission casing just needed to be tighten. They didn’t charge me and said the problem was fixed. I instead asked for a two week follow up to ensure the issue was resolved. When I brought it back two weeks later I was then informed it was still leaking and needed a whole new transmission costing almost $8,000. They also advised since the warranty expired 3 weeks ago that they would not cover it under warranty, but would cover 35% which still left me paying almost $5000. Even after I showed them the documentation of the leak occurring in March during the warranty period they would not budge and told me to file a complaint with America Honda. After jumping through hoops with American Honda, Richard (from American Honda) advised that they would not cover anymore and that I couldn’t speak with anyone else at American Honda to protest my case. I just want people to know what kind of “reliable” vehicle and type of service you will receive when buying from Leith Honda. More
