I have been dealing with Leith since they opened in 2003. I have purchased or leased four cars from them and had those four plus a 5th VW serviced there. The sales experience is like any other dealer with I have purchased or leased four cars from them and had those four plus a 5th VW serviced there. The sales experience is like any other dealer with the back/forth hassle but I expect that - Troy made it less of a hassle and has gone out his way for me each time I've leased a car from him dealing with the company I work for that leases me the cars. Service - yes they try to upsell you. Every dealer does - but Leith is not as aggressive about it like the other local dealer Southern States is. It's up to you as a consumer to know what your car needs and in the defense of Leith they have not tried to tell me I need extra stuff to keep up the warranty - Tina and Rusty the service manager are completely honest with me about this sort of stuff. I tell them to do it by the manual and they do it by the manual. When I have had warranty issues they have really gone to bat with VWoA for me as well...they essentially replaced every soft part of the interior of my Beetle when the sunroof leaked under warranty and a nasty mildew took root in the interior. They gutted the car, replaced the soft parts (except for the leather seat covers themselves) and got it back together with no rattles and at zero charge to me, keeping me in a loaner car for the duration. If you ask me why I will never buy another VW I will tell you the reason is I do not want to deal with Leith VW in Cary. The list of reasons is long—it goes from telling us we did not have a faulty wheel you the reason is I do not want to deal with Leith VW in Cary. The list of reasons is long—it goes from telling us we did not have a faulty wheel on board of our Tuareg and letting us drive away with a faulty wheel (and our 5 months old baby in the car), to telling us there is nothing they can do to fix a stuck seat belt, and if they could (or want?) it would be very very expensive. To their credit they did offer us a list of people that could fix it for us. Mhhh...how nice! safety devices being fixed somewhere else. I have already filed 2 complaints with VW Corporate and I hope they will do something. My advice to Leith VW: do not sell expensive cars if you can not offer the adequate customer care! Cross the road and see how they work at Audi—you may learn a thing or two! By the way if you want to call VW corporate care and file a complaint the number is: 1-800-822-8987 More
My wife took our Passat in for its 20,000 mile service. The service guy told her she needed a huge and costly list of repairs in order to maintain our warranty. She knew better, this is our 3rd VW. Aft The service guy told her she needed a huge and costly list of repairs in order to maintain our warranty. She knew better, this is our 3rd VW. After talking with other Leith customers, I have found that they routinely try to mislead customers by selling them unnecessary services. I am thinking of a class action lawsuit against them. I saved a couple of hundred dollars buying the car there, but they sure try to make it up by robbing you in service. DO NOT BUY A VW FROM LEITH!!!!!! More
