This past Friday, I brought my 2016 Toyota Tacoma to your dealership’s service department to diagnosis an exhaust leak. I informed your Service Rep Sandra the ongoing saga of the Tacoma’s catalytic convert dealership’s service department to diagnosis an exhaust leak. I informed your Service Rep Sandra the ongoing saga of the Tacoma’s catalytic converters being stolen and of a previous diagnosis for the exhaust leak. Specifically, the defective motor mounts were the cause of the exhaust leak. Sandra was professional and opted not to note the previous diagnosis; opting to let the technician make his own diagnosis. In the late afternoon of Monday, Sandra called informing me the technician’s diagnosis was simply: the aftermarket catalytic converter did not properly fit with the exhaust manifold. She also advised the shop foreman agreed with the diagnosis. I requested Sandra to now have the technician specifically inspect the motor mounts as being the cause. On Tuesday morning I returned to your dealership and questioned Sandra about the inspection of the motor mount. Sandra went to the shop area and returned informing me the shop foreman said the motor mounts were not the cause of the exhaust leak. I paid the $175 service charge and left confused. The cost to replace the motor mount is expensive, so I brought my vehicle to your dealership believing I would get an honest and professionally diagnosis. With OEM catalytic converters being on back-order for the next 3 to 4 months, it seemed I had had only one option; to go with the other diagnosis and have the motor mounts replaced at a local mechanic shop. It is concerning I paid $175 to a Toyota Dealership to misdiagnosis my issue. I have no training as a mechanic, however the diagnosis from the local mechanic shop seemed plausible. Ultimately, the exhaust leak was fixed by replacing the motor mounts. More
