This is the first time after doing business - mostly service and purchasing vehicles here since the 1980's- that I felt let down- not in the maintenance department and sales department but the body shop service and purchasing vehicles here since the 1980's- that I felt let down- not in the maintenance department and sales department but the body shop. I needed a small area on my trunk area that had a few dings (buffing) and another area needed a touch up in a small, small area. I took the car to 2 other well known Mankato collison repair shops before I got an estimate from Mankato Motors and got estimates that were within $25 - $40 higher. (Not because of the price, but my loyalty to Mankato Motors, to having my service done there) I would prefer to go there knowing they have always been honest and fair with me despite knowing the other two options were well known for their workmanship, expertise and in "fixing" this small repair. When the "repair" supposedly was done, I was told that they could only do a light touch up on the one ding (and I could have done that myself as I have the little paint touch up) and the other dings could not be done as they were scratched. That would require painting the entire area of the bumper. My other two estimators both confirmed that this WAS NOT necessary - as they could easily buff out/rid these dings. Well, I was told when I picked up my car they could not do it! This hurts! Now I am out the money I paid actually to just get a little ding touched up (which I could have done myself) and now I will end up going to another repair shop to get done with what Mankato Motors said they could not do it without much more expense. When I did pick up the car, after about 2 hours waiting for this service, the car was given a complimentary car wash which was nice. However, I am in awe that what was not done could not be done by the staff in the Body Shop there since the other two options would have not had any issues with doing that and guaranteed total satisfaction. They are well known and have a great reputation! And yes, Mankato Motors is my favorite because all past services I have had with them on ALL of my vehicles. So now I will need to have the repairs done elsewhere that I expected it could all be handled at your body shop. I do appreciate honesty in your case; however, I know you have a reputation of being confident and doing a good job in collison repairs. The staff at Mankato Motors are all great to work with - Betsy was very nice and seemed to know her job - but checking around and knowing that I had two other options that stated they would be able to complete the job as I expected, I now need to do business elsewhere for this simple job!.
