Brand new car multiple safety system failure warning This is the Second time my brand new Honda Accord “warned” of multiple safety system failures. Brakes, emergency brake, LKAS, ACC, collision mitigatio This is the Second time my brand new Honda Accord “warned” of multiple safety system failures. Brakes, emergency brake, LKAS, ACC, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation. I was very upset since this was the second time I’d needed to bring my brand new 2018 Honda Accord I purchased on May 28th. The car is less than 2 months old at this point. As I was on my way to the dealership I was unable to avoid a metal object on the road and subsequently incurred catastrophic tire damage. The front right tire was flat. As you can imagine I was livid. I was already irritated and concerned about my brand new car having a second occurrence of multiple failures of major components of the safety systems. Naturally, I was fearing the worst, thinking things like I’d been “ripped off” and “is this car a lemon?” I was disappointed. Wondering about the many people I’d talked to about their ownership of Honda’s. How many of them talked about their Honda’s being “problem free,” I asked myself “had this been erroneous?” or maybe I had very high standards? Either way, the unfortunate circumstance of driving over road debris that damaged one of the very expensive tires, did not help the situation. Thankfully I have wheel and tire warranty. The tire was replaced at no cost and the rim was repaired from a little curb rash. I mentioned to Ted, the Mechanic assigned to investigate the issues with my Honda, that i’d also noticed moisture in the lens of the rear left tail light. He said he’d check all the issues mentioned, including the moisture in the tail light and assured me he’d handle it. I very much appreciated Ted’s accessibility in communication with me, and his thorough knowledge and ability to explain the actions taken and possible causes of the issues I experienced. I was also grateful that he facilitated the tire replacement and repair of the curb rash on the front passenger (right) side rim. In his investigation of the safety system failures he suggested that they “could be” attributed to the moisture in the rear driver side tail light. That the moisture itself was due to a bad seal and the tail lens and would need to be replaced. Because of the moisture a component attached to the tail light electrical hardware may have been “tripping up” the sensors that control the safety systems. The tail lens was also replaced. I’ve had the car back for 2 days and it seems to be operating in the manner intended, the rim looks brand new and I hope this is the end of this situation. I do appreciate the patience and understanding I felt. I know at times I can be exigent and demanding. That being said I feel like my demeanor is justified in wanting my BRAND NEW CAR to perform as expected and remain problem free. I don’t think it too much to demand this not be an added stressful thought. Thank you Ted. I appreciate your deligence and care. However the next time I see you I’d prefer it just be for maintenance and no more issues like this. -Bud More
