Sir, We apologize for your experience. As the Internet Sales Director, I, myself are not always available and at the time of your phone call(s) I was with customers. We had tried to seclude the vehicle prior to your arrival, but it is within company policy that we cannot deny access to a vehicle that is for sale on our lot and a sales person from our floor sales introduced a customer to the vehicle. Upon immediate sale of the vehicle, I was unavailable to speak for several hours, so a Sales Manager from our dealership wanted to call you immediately because we do NOT play the "bait and switch game" and didn't want you to show up and the vehicle be gone. After I had became available again, I received two messages: first of which that the Sales Manager had called to inform you of the vehicle being sold before your arrival and the second that another Sales Manager intercepted a phone call from the Internet Department that you had called back to verify what the first Sales Manager had contacted you about and that you had become upset at the verification of news: proceeded to talk poorly towards the second Sales Manager and then hung up on him mid-sentence. There is no excuses to be made in this situation because there is no one to blame as it is against policy to withhold a vehicle from a potential buyer as it would be unfair to the consumer and sales person. I understand that you are frustrated, but it is unfair to say that in a world of equal opportunity, we deny the availability of a vehicle to any consumer because another one may buy it later; that isn't good business in its self. We did try to move the vehicle to another position in our lot where it could not be seen by a consumer unless a salesperson brought them to the vehicle; but in the end, would you have been more angry to continue to drive another hour (at the time of the call the first Sales Manager stated that you were in South St Petersburg) to find out the vehicle was gone? From a person stating he has 40 years of customer service; you can agree with us that it is better to be upfront and honest about a situation vs. being lied to and expecting the vehicle is still here upon arrival, correct? We are a family owned and operated facility, we strive to provide a service like no other dealer does and do not play any games.. which is why our Sales Management staff took it upon themselves to give you a call when I myself was unavailable. I'm sorry that you were not happy with the experience you had, but we cannot watch all 1000+ cars on our lot at all times to prevent this from happening, nor break policy to deny a customer access to any in stock inventory.
