Lodi Mazda of New Jersey To whom it may concern, Please let this serve as my complaint against Mazda of Lodi New Jersey. On April 07, 2022 I was shopping around for a new SUV but was in no rush. I visited many dealerships. The first question I asked was “Are you charging over sticker?” If they said yes I walked out. Jeep, Chevy, Subaru, Mazda of Ramsey and Rockland Mazda all said they were charging sticker price with no “Market adjustment”. I visited Mazda in Rockland and Ramsey, they were very nice, and I decided I wanted a CX-5 Carbon Edition, but they had none in stock and I had to wait a couple of weeks. This is where my nightmare began. I decided to call Mazda of Lodi. Mateo Martinez answered the phone, I asked him “Are you charging over sticker or have a market adjustment”? He said “No and we have a Carbon Edition on the lot, come by”. I drove straight there and asked to see Mateo Martinez. Mateo showed me the car and assured me 10X that there were no extra charges. After sitting down and talking numbers we agreed on 6K for my trade in and sticker price 32K minus $500 first responder discount, 2.9% APR and we shook hands. Mateo Charged my credit card 5K and my debit card 10K and took the keys to my trade in. He had me call my bank to make sure the charges went through, and they did. The next step was changing my insurance to the CX-5, that was done. No going back on the deal at this point and they knew it. The final step was signing documents electronically on a huge table computer with an electronic pen with the Finance Manager Michael Cesena. He flipped it around pointed at different things and started talking per month prices not the real price. He circled $1500 and said” This is what you paid, sign here” and I did. Little did I know that he was blocking the top of the screen that said 34K for the car and all the extra charges not included on the sticker. Next he said “Why don’t you pay over 72 months instead of 60 just in case something happens, you will have more time to pay off the car. He neglected to tell me the interest rate skyrocked from 2.9% to 5.34%. Last but not least he had me sign a security etching fee for $699 but didn’t mention it wasn’t on the window sticker. Most dealerships do this but charge $200-$400. $699 is robbery, why not $1,699? Amazon has an etching kit for $15. Not realizing what happened I said thank you to Michael and he handed me a USB, no paperwork and I drove off in my new car. After about a week I was able to log into Mazda Financial and set up an account. I noticed the numbers were way off and called them. They told me to come in the next day so I did. After finding a computer with a printer and a USB port I printed everything out and met with Michael. I showed him where he circled and what he blocked. He turned red and offered me $500 for overcharging $2,500. I said I wanted $2,500 and he said $500, and we will bump your warranty up to Platinum (I already purchased Gold) so the difference is an oil filter I think. He got mad and I took what I could get that day but told him I was taking it over his head to the Managers, BBB, my local Assemblyman and corporate if necessary. He said, “Go ahead”. I wrote truthful reviews on their web site, Dealerrater.com, Cars.com, Google, Bing, Facebook and Instagram. About a week later General Manager Fabian Skibniewski called me and asked me to take down the reviews. I said I would if they would give me the amount they overcharged. He laughed and said “I am only making this call because I have to apologize because its my job’ then he hung up.
