High pressure and manipulative This was the worst car-(not) buying experience I have ever had. At this dealership I told them what I was looking for and they had the "perfect" vehi This was the worst car-(not) buying experience I have ever had. At this dealership I told them what I was looking for and they had the "perfect" vehicle for me: a 2013 Santa Fe Sport. It had just come in so had not had a chance to be cleaned and inspected yet, but it was at price significantly lower than similar vehicles I had seen at other dealerships. When I asked why the price was so low, I was told that they were able to get a good deal on trade-in, and so they could basically pass on the good price to me. The salesman also volunteered the CarFax report, which he said stated that there was one previous owner and no accidents. Sounds ok so far... I was getting ready to leave town and the price was good enough, and I had looked at enough vehicles previously, that I decided to buy the vehicle that visit to take advantage of the good price, before leaving town. We began the process. I expressed that I was concerned something would come up during inspection and wanted in writing that I could either return the car or change the deal if something came up. The salesman came back with writing all right, "The DEALER has the right to end the deal at any time." Not me. I expressed concern about this and the salesman just smiled and said "Don't worry, there's only 31,000 miles on the car, there isn't going to be ANYTHING wrong with it." There was some logic to that, so we continued. The next paperwork was the actual CarFax report. Which ALSO stated that there was an UNRESOLVED RECALL on the vehicle: "There was an issue with machining the bearings in the engine which could cause the engine to seize, which could lead to an accident. The manufacturer has no resolution at this time." VERY different than the verbal report the salesman originally gave me. I have been looking for a reliable vehicle because I consistently travel to Southeast Colorado for work, 3.5 hours outside of Denver in remote areas. I cannot afford to have an engine fail in the middle of nowhere. I expressed this to the salesman and said I cannot purchase the vehicle for safety reasons. He said that even if the engine failed, there was still a powertrain warranty so the engine could be replaced. I told him that doesn't help me when the engine actually seizes and I get stranded, so I still refused. So the salesman got his manager. The manager then proceeded to tell me how unreasonable I was being for turning down the vehicle, because it was a great deal, and the chance of something happening was very small. I expressed to the manager my travel concerns, including the fact that I am currently PREGNANT (albeit early, so I'm not showing yet), and safety is a big concern for me. He said the worst that would happen is that the vehicle would slow to a stop. I used to have a vehicle in which the engine would seize, and when the engine seizes and you lose the power steering and power brakes, it is NOT a leisurely slow to a stop. It a fight to wrestle the car to the shoulder hoping you don't have to stop or turn quickly. The manager also said that the manufacturer is working on a fix and it will probably be available in the next 30 days. Even if that were true, (and I don't think it was) it didn't change the fact that there were safety issues with the vehicle that would become MY problem once I bought it. So they finally relented and I left the dealership. So after I left the dealership, I looked up the recall. The manufacturer actually DOES have a recommendation: to replace the engine short block. Somehow this option NEVER came up. So the salesman/manager consistently withheld information from me and pressured me to purchase a vehicle that the manufacturer stated had safety issues, because they didn't want to replace the engine block. Ugh. Perhaps they thought I would be an easy way to dump a vehicle because I am a woman. Despicable. NEVER GOING BACK. More

2016 Red Hot Veloster Purchase I don't remember my sales person's name, but he had just started working there a couple of weeks prior to my purchase. He wasn't fully versed on all the features of my vehicle, but he was honest about the things he didn't know and offered to get me answers. This was my second Veloster purchase, so I was already very familiar with the vehicle. My sales person did a great job of keeping things moving and making the deal happen in a very reasonable amount of time. Very happy with the overall experience and he will do a great job once he is fully trained and learned the vehicles. More
