I know I run the risk of countering the common practice of simply acknowledging a review and letting "negatives" stand unchallenged. But, I have waited to respond to this review to take the time to ensure that I gave it my full thought and consideration. That said, I am sorry for your experience and apologize. Consumers and Retailers do not always connect with the process, figures and personalities. But, perception is reality. That is the nature of online reviews. Some are justifiably earned and some not. Some of this review we earned and some is outright unjustified and misleading. The issue I have with your review and the reason I waited to respond was your attempt to smear the good people and the great owners of our company. I am compelled to defend my salesperson, David Lax, who spent over 6 hours with you trying to help. At no time did David mistreat you. He treated you in a truly professional manner. David did not benefit in any way by your "wasted" time. He was patient when you requested, in our opinion, an unrealistic value for your trade. You were shown a copy of the printout of the book value for your trade that reflected our best offer - matching what NADA stated as the value for your vehicle. Your opinion was different from ours. You took your vehicle to CarMax and they gave you an offer to purchase your trade. For the record their offer was less than your were demanding from us. You and any customer has the right to sell your vehicle to the highest bidder. Nothing untoward was done with regards to your trade. Again, value is a matter of opinion. You imply that the owners of our company direct employees to be shady. That could not be any further from the truth. The owners are great, humble people. These very same owners do numerous works of charity and are upstanding members of the community. They never brag about their charitable works. The owners go above and beyond to do more than their fair share of good deeds for those less fortunate. They contribute to local schools, churches and groups. All from, as you imply, their dishonest bottom line profits. I have never heard them once ask when someone needed help if McDonald Auto Group made a profit from those in need. Nor have they ever instructed any employee to act in a shady, dishonest manner. To the contrary, all employees are asked to be good people and to be the example of how business should be done - professionally and ethically. To smear their good name is uncalled for. You did not like the figures you received, the manager or the fact that the taxes were not calculated properly. I get that. Trade values are based on opinion and personalities don't always mix. Taxes, however, are your FAIR SHARE to our system of government. To equate those as profit to the dealer is wrong. Dealers are obligated to collect the proper amount of tax due on every purchase. Plus, with regards to your tax error, we tried to offer to cover your FAIR SHARE of taxes.You acknowledge this in your review. (There is no obligation on our part or any retailer to do so). Hardly, a scheme to gain or steal anything from you. You, as is your prerogative, chose not to take the offer. You imply that a second key was held hostage in order to coerce you into buying an extended service plan. Nothing can be further from the truth. The vehicle you were trying to purchase was a Used vehicle. Most trades only come with one key as was the case with the vehicle you were interested in. Unfortunately, your experience was not to your liking. I am sorry. There are plenty of great honest and truthful dealers in Denver including McDonald Hyundai and the group of McDonald dealerships. I hope that people reading this review can discern the parts of your review that are truthful and through the parts of your story that are simply, I my opinion, unjustified or exaggerated as an attempt to smear McDonald Hyundai.
