I had again bad experience with McGrath Elgin. While completing the paper work to buy a car the finance guy asked me to buy the service coupons(Driver Plus Program). I told I do not need it. He explaine completing the paper work to buy a car the finance guy asked me to buy the service coupons(Driver Plus Program). I told I do not need it. He explained me that it is cheaper and you get oil service and tire rotation any where. I specifically asked that can I use it any where? he told yes you can use any where, since coupons will come with VIN number and can be accessed anywhere. When I went to nearest Honda showroom they are not accepted. I talked to McGrath Elgin they told that you should use at any McGrath. I surprised with this, They are not honest to customers. I asked couple of times that can I use it any where in Honda Service Center. Since my work is not permanent and I relocate oftenly for my job. I had bad experience in buying a car and buying service warranty. I suggest all customers that stay away from McGrath, Elgin.I ALREADY WROTE MY REVIEW IN LAST YEAR FOR MY CAR BUY. THESE GUYS ARE CHEATERS AND CHEAT VERY QUICKLY. Though I am not a fan of writing reviews, I am writing this because I am one of the guy cheated by MCGRATH HONDA, ELGIN, IL. This is the complete story of mine. I planned to buy Honda Pilot and I went to McGrath, Elgin to get the quotation. I met sales person Jerry and sales Manager Chris. He asked me what is the budget. I told that around $31,000 to $32,000. But I asked that I need leather seats. The sales person started explaining LX model with Leather option. I asked about the EX and EX-L models and he told me that they are lot of money and expensive. So he gave me the price more than $35,000 and finally bargained for $34,200 for LX with leather option. He completed this deal very quickly, without giving any time to think or calling my friends or someone. They did paper work so fast and completed it. After doing all this they showed my vehicle. I surprised that there are no floor mats, no leather seats and no roof rack(when I went test drive in another LX model that one is having roof racks too). When I asked about these options, they told me that deal is done.They told me to take the vehicle and I didn't bring to home, because leather accessory is not there. I even didn't sit in the car. I came to home and started enquiring other dealers. I got out the door price for Pilot EX-L with premium running boards starting from $35,050 from other dealers. Then Immediately I went to Mcgrath Honda, Elgin on next day. He is not accepted to get the EX-L for the this price. He asked me 5,900 more dollars to get the EX-L. I went to McGrath Elgin to discuss on this for 2 days and they were insisted to take LX model which I bought first. Me and my wife doesn't get proper sleep for couple of days on this issue. Finally I got EX-L model from them for $39,200 spending 4,150 dollars more comparetivly other dealers. I requested them to give an extra option entertainment center or navigation for this price. They didn't give an option for bargaining the price and other options. The Chris(Sales Manager) doesn't know how to open Cargo door also. He asked me to wait to check on this for one hour. There is no issue in the car. The issue is manager doesn't know how to operate remote keys to open cargo door. They even didn't explained about the options in cabin board. After all of this they asked me to come another day to get running boards on my vehicle. I got schedule to fix my running boards for another day and they took 2 hour 30 minutes to fix this. I wrote this review since I literelly unhappy with MCGRATH HONDA, ELGIN. I suggest do not go to this dealer. They are not informative and not customer friendly. They cheat customers very quickly on buying new cars. I contacted Honda Motors Corporate Center on this issue. Honda Motors support sent couple of messages on this issue to McGrath Honda, Elgin. McGrath Honda is not at all called me to discuss on the issue. Honda Motors Customer support told me that they will send message on this issue to General Manager at McGrath Honda, Elgin. But no one contacted to me on this issue. IEVER NEVER SEE THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT LIKE THIS IN USA. I SUGGEST STAY AWAY FROM MCGRATH HONDA, ELGIN. More

We were quoted a price and when were ready to make the deal, oooppps the price changed. Claims were promos changed, that was last month's prices, and soon on. The simple fact is this is a dealership with a very bad sales team. I'm not sure how far up it goes, but the sales managers are really xxxx bags. The sad part part of this is that I'm getting a new Honda Crosstour, at my price, but I'm dealing with Muller Honda in Highland Park, a full 30ish miles away. McGrath has lost at least 3 sales in the last six months because of the exact same thing that I described above. If i could tell anyone what to do, is simply keep driving by, they're a bunch of old school sales clowns. More

I am very impressed with Mr. Burgos. He was extremely polite and well mannered. I ended up buying a 2011 CRV and part of the reason I purchased was because of this young man's willingness to make the cus polite and well mannered. I have had bad experiences in the service department in the past, so I was hesistant about purchasing another vehicle from McGrath. But this young man sold me and I was extremely happy with my new car buying experience. He never was pushy or arrogant like some salesman can be. McGrath should feel very blessed to have this young man working for them. I can only hope my future experiences with service department will be just as pleasant. Maybe Louis can work the service department also??????? That would keep me a customer for life!!! Great job Mr. Burgos, it was a pleasure doing business with you. More
I was so happy with my entire experience. It started with Marlo who was absolutely wonderful and went out of her way to assist me. I really felt that my salesman Alberto really listened to me and provided me Marlo who was absolutely wonderful and went out of her way to assist me. I just felt in general everyone spent a good amount of time with me and really cared about making my car buying experience the best it could be. I definetly recommend this dealership! More
I was looking to trade in my 2010 Accord for a 2011 Accord & was contacting local dealers to see who could best make it happen. McGrath was the ace up my sleeve because this would have been the 3rd car Accord & was contacting local dealers to see who could best make it happen. Going through the process, the sales person I was in contact with (Marlo) was very polite & nice, & I would have loved to take a 3rd Honda home from them, but in the end they were over $38/mo higher than the 'best' dealer, and higher than a few others I contacted as well. I was very disappointed that they would not match (or even try to come close to) the other dealers price for a repeat customer. Speaking to another dealer about my experience, they mentioned that the old General manager had recently been replaced with a new one - who's concentrating on Gross margin (at the expense of volume.) So if you're not willing to pay MSRP (or near it) they don't seem - in my experience - too interested in working with you. Even though the 'internet' department. I will say that I was able to do ALL of my negotiations over email (which was great!) but once they hit their 'lowest price' they wouldn't budge. I wish them luck in this new strategy - but I'll do it from afar. I'll be buying elsewhere. FWIW - Schaumburg Honda was where I got the best deal - I used the online negotiation tool & it was quick & easy - YMMV. More
They only reason why I did not rate my experience a 5, was because of the initial experience I had with our orignal Salespeson Nora. The tactics employed by this salesperson is something which probably would have worked well 10-15 years ago. Nora was very pushy acted like she owned the dealership. Her tone of voice and body language was poor at best. She would serve as a perfect poster child for the stereotype low life car saleperson are made to look like. After having such a poor experience, my wife and I left the dealership and decided to look for a new Odyssey van someplace else. I was contacted by Marlo the Concierge Mgr at McGrath regarding our experience. Even though I never met Marlo and my dealings with her was only over the phone, she came across as very genuine, concerned about the reputation of the dealership and willing to be as flexible as possible to erase the memory of my dealing with Nora. Marlo acted as the go-between to broker the deal over the phone. There really wasn’t any haggling involved and I don’t believe either side felt the deal was not fair. Later that evening I went to the dealership with my wife, met with the Sales Mgr James Russo, who was very cordial and apologetic about my past experience. He set me up with another Salesman Kenny, who completed the rest of the paperwork and the delivery process. Both James and Kenny made us feel welcomed and extended their apologies numerous times about our initial experience. I had previously bought vehicles at the McGrath group numerous times and always had a good experience; that is why I continued to return. With this purchase, the initial sales process went south very fast, but with Marlo, James and Kenny’s involvement, I believe the end result was a “win win” for all of us. The next time, I am in the market for a vehicle, I will gladly return to McGrath. More

I went in to buy my first new car. Pierre was a huge help in guiding me through what I needed to know. They were also willing to do some negotiating which was great.
