Used car fail, and Gary was the root cause In November of 2015 I purchased a used Volkswagen Passat from McGrath Lexus of Westmont. Gay Fuller was my salesman. I had been looking for this parti In November of 2015 I purchased a used Volkswagen Passat from McGrath Lexus of Westmont. Gay Fuller was my salesman. I had been looking for this particular car for quite some time and found it at McGrath. Inquired about it and Gary contacted me. I live in Iowa and drove 3 hours to get to the dealership to look at and ultimately purchase the car. One of the big selling points to the car that really reassured me is that Gary told me that I had a 3 month warranty on the vehicle that if I found anything major on the vehicle. 2 of my friends that came with me also had heard him mention that. After I purchased the car and made the 3 hour drive home, I had a check engine light come on. Took it to my local mechanic and he said that a timing issue was occurring on the car and said it could potentially be very serious. The day after I purchased the car I called Gary back and told him and he said that my mechanic was wrong and that all it needed was an oil change. (my mechanic laughed at that). I continued to drive the car for about a week and took it to another well known VW dealer in the area and they confirmed the same thing my mechanic said about the timing issue and said that it was going to be very expensive to fix. I even had the VW dealership call and talk to Gary and Gary argued with the service tech about the issue(his arrogance was really shining now). I talked to the used car sales manager(Geoff Pebleske) and he said that he would agree to look at the car but I would need to get it back to westmont. My VW dealer told me not to drive the car that far that I could potentially blow the motor up. So I paid the money out of my pocket to trailer the car 3 hours. McGrath gave me a loaner for 3 weeks. so after 3 weeks I returned to pick up my car again and found out all they did was an oil change on it... Hmm a 3 week long oil change? sounds sketchy. after I got the car back I had the check engine light come back on just like previously. this time when I called the dealership Gary stopped returning my phone calls. the Used car sales manager stopped returning my phone calls. I even called once and talked to a different manager who said he would look into and get back to me. all of this is about early January of 2015 that these phone calls are occurring. (only one month into my supposed warranty). I took my VW back to my mechanic and told him with my newborn child coming within a month that I need this car fixed. So after him having it for a month and almost $2000 in repairs, What had happened is the bolt on the oil pump which is in line with the timing chain had loosened. Luckily the bolt didn't fall all the way out or else I would have had to buy a whole new motor for the car. I still have the parts that my mechanic took out and you can tell that the bolt that was the issue had been loose for a while because of the wear marks on the threads. the car was a ticking time bomb and I have no idea how it didn't explode. I will admit that when I purchased the car I was so very impressed with McGrath Lexus of Westmont. On my drive home I was actually excited to purchase another car from them and I had such an amazing experience. But after being lied to by Gary, and 2 other managers I cant even believe a company continues to do business like that. Gary kept bragging to me about how good of a salesman he is. Well I guess when you tell straight lies to customers faces then I guess it would be easy to sell cars. I'm a mechanical guy myself, I realize you can't foresee issues like this. It was a coverup from day one. I didn't even make it home before the check engine light came on. so they had to of known when I bought the car. I would have been more than happy to even work out an agreement with McGrath but that's hard to do if they don't ever call you back and honor anything that they are saying. all in all I will never be going to back to McGrath Lexus of Westmont. Wonderful Dealership Experience! I recently came in on Friday for a car wash and while in the dealership I noticed a beautiful 2016 RX350. I instantly knew it was the right car for m I recently came in on Friday for a car wash and while in the dealership I noticed a beautiful 2016 RX350. I instantly knew it was the right car for me and my wife. Joe was able to structure a fair deal on our trade-in and worked very hard to get us in the car and out on the road in very short order. The whole team at McGrath is awesome at what they do and Joe has been my go to guy for a long time. Nice work Joe! More
Did not expect Lexus to lie to make a sale In 2007 I bought pre-owned Lexus RX350 (with 10,000 miles) from McGrath Lexus in Westmont. Since my work requires me to drive many miles a day, and al In 2007 I bought pre-owned Lexus RX350 (with 10,000 miles) from McGrath Lexus in Westmont. Since my work requires me to drive many miles a day, and also having back issues, this car gave me a very comfortable ride, and I absolutely loved it. After 7 years and many miles, I decided to trade it in for a new one. I went back to McGrath Lexus. Sales rep Justin Storandt showed me their pre-owned inventory and we came across 2014 Lexus RX350 with only 6,000 miles. I asked number of times if this car still has a comfortable ride, since I still drive a lot for work and still have back issues. I was guaranteed by Justin and his manager Geoff Pebelske that it is exactly same car. It was not an easy decision, because the car was $40,000 (more than I wanted to spend). But since I was guaranteed that it will have the same comfortable ride, I bought the car. After just a few days of driving, I noticed that the car was driving very differently than my old one. The ride was much stiffer. My back and wrists were hurting within few days due to all the vibrations in the car. I went back to the dealership and was send to the mechanics to take a look. I was in shock when mechanics told me that the car I purchased is nothing like my old one. It has been redesigned in 2009, with a “truck” like ride. They went over all the changes that make this car to have a much stiffer ride. I went to speak to Justin about what happened but was told that the deal was already done and nothing can be done. I tried to speak with Geoff and he refused to see me, saying that nothing can be done. I am not in the position to waste $40,000 on a car that does not surve its purpose. And I really did not expect Lexus resort to lying to make a sale. I believe dealership should be held accountable for their actions. But the only things that I have been offered is a free car wash. More

He was friendly and very knowledgeable about the vehicles there & and what was available. He made me feel very welcome. Also, Mike Agnello was great as well. He really put together the best financial package for me. Although the process was lengthy these guys made it all worth it. The customer service at McGrath is the best in town!!!!! More
