DIS-SERVICE Took my Suburban in for basic service and a wheel balance. I was experiencing a harmonic vibration that peaked at a certain speed and disappeared abov Took my Suburban in for basic service and a wheel balance. I was experiencing a harmonic vibration that peaked at a certain speed and disappeared above that speed. Classic unbalance symptoms. The fee for this service was substantial. The service advisor tried to tell me that the wheels were distorted, which was hard to believe. McGloughlin Chevrolet still did the work but, after driving off onto the highway, I noticed that the vibration was even worse than before, this time most noticeably from the rear wheels. I called Don from the road and explained the issue. He eventually asked me to bring the truck back in. Under my supervision, the technician balanced the two rear wheels. Both were out by quite a bit. My belief is that either the service was botched badly, or worse yet, it was never performed in the first place. A few days later, because the car was still not driving well, I took it to Les Schwab for a balance of the two front wheels. Although they noticed that both were out of specs, they had no trouble balancing them. I ended up double paying for the one service, but I was so disgusted with the situation that I did not want to go back to that dealership. More
