MetroWest Subaru responded

Hi there, First of all - we're extremely sorry to hear about your negative experience, but do appreciate your feedback. We are big believers in warranties at MetroWest Subaru - and so we always make sure to offer these, along with many other non-warranty options, to our customers. We think warranties can be very valuable, especially with big ticket items and often pay for themselves in one visit. For example - a transmission replacement is over $8,000. That said - it is never our intention to scam you or pressure you into something you don't want to do, and we're sorry you felt so frustrated. As for the credit app being run 15 times - as noted by Experian - "credit scoring systems count all inquiries for auto loans within a given period of time, usually around 14 days, as a single inquiry. Car dealerships often send your application to multiple lenders at the same time in a process called 'shotgunning' to find the best loan terms. As a result, lenders compete for the loan and the consumer benefits by getting the best rates and finance terms available to them." Since we offer multiple financing options with different banks in order to try and get our customer the best rate, this is why your credit score was pulled multiple times. If the drop in your score was in fact due to the loan application, it should have had the same impact, whether there were 15 inquiries or just one, and should bounce back quickly. Again, we apologize for your experience. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any other questions. I've also enclosed more information direct from Experian for you to review, as they explain it best. Best, VJ Donnelly General Sales Manager http://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/2012/02/29/inquiries-for-multiple-loan-applications-cannot-be-removed/ "Dear Experian, While looking for a new car the auto dealer shopped the best rate for a loan, generating seven or eight hard credit inquiries, which have dropped my score. Can I have these hard inquiries removed? - DRL Dear DRL, Because the law requires that your personal credit report list all organizations that have requested it, the inquiries cannot be removed. However, most credit scoring systems allow people to shop for the best rates on car loans without having any significant negative impact on their credit scores. Today, credit scoring systems count all inquiries for auto loans within a given period of time, usually around 14 days, as a single inquiry. Car dealerships often send your application to multiple lenders at the same time in a process called “shotgunning” to find the best loan terms. As a result, lenders compete for the loan and the consumer benefits by getting the best rates and finance terms available to them. If the drop in your score was in fact due to the loan application with the auto dealer, it should have had the same impact, whether there were eight inquiries or just one. It is also important to be aware that the impact of inquiries decreases over time, so your credit scores should rebound fairly quickly, assuming there are not other issues with your credit history."

MetroWest Subaru responded

We are sorry to hear about your experience at MetroWest Subaru and apologize for the misunderstanding. It is never our intention to make any customer feel anything other than completely satisfied when leaving our dealership. Different dealerships are able to offer different payments, and we've reviewed the deal and still feel we did all we could, but apologize that we couldn't get to a payment that worked for you. We hope you enjoy your Subaru.
