Salesman better, dealership okay It's a challenge to give this dealer a review when grouped in with the individual salesman's service. Gavin was really helpful, kind, and honest. Test driving the van we came to look at was a good experience overall. We knew what we wanted and drove about 45 minutes to this location because the online ad looked appealing and it advertises itself as a top rated customer service dealer. The van was as promised and we wanted to purchase it. The issue with the dealership really came about when dealing with a pricing manager. I don't even have his name but he rubbed us the wrong way because we didn't feel the deal was fair and he just seemed annoyed with us sticking up for ourselves. The van price was fair and within KBB pricing standards, but the value they wanted to give us for our trade in (a highlander) was way below KBB. Therefore the bottom line was much higher than we wanted. The pricing manager said it was because they don't go by KBB. We felt this was a bit shady. They tried to explain their reasoning and the auction price method they use, but I don't think that's fair to consumers. We saw a fair van asking price, but an unfair trade value, which equalled an unfair bottom line. We came into the dealership expecting our trade to be worth pretty close to the van price (same year, ours had a few thousand less miles, same color, similar features) but they were about $3000 apart! It was insulting when they offered us that low. Through some serious negotiations and SIX hours of being there, we finally got to an acceptable place. Do I think it's the best deal? No. Do I think it's the nicest dealership? No. But they were willing to negotiate with us and explained themselves well. It just was nothing exceptional. I would say average, hence the 3 stars. I know this dealership prides themselves on customer service, but I wouldn't say it's the best dealership I've ever been at, and we've been in about 7 separate dealers in the KC area, because we shop around a lot and have had to buy two vehicles this year (one was a-not-my-wife's-fault wreck, and the other was this van due to baby number 3 on the way). It's a small building with a lot of cubicles, lots of people, no frills. These things mean they can pass on better prices due to less overhead, so that's good. We just had to seriously negotiate to get there. At least they were willing to play ball. We got there at 12:15. Left around 6:30. All we did was look at this van! The sad thing for us was we had our 2 kids with us. We did not even know there was a little kid toy area (no one told us!!) until my wife went back a few days later to get the headlights buffed, as per my request upon buying the van (it couldn't be done the night we bought it due to the headlight man being gone already. Gavin did have some touch up paint mailed to us too, so again, he had great customer service). So that kid and waiting area would have been helpful to know about for distracting our kids through the negotiation process. Gavin was really nice about them getting antsy toward the end. The finance manager we dealt with for paperwork was also really great. My wife met the owner and was decently satisfied with her experience with him. It is nice that he was there, versus some other owners who may never be around. It's just sad that my wife had to request to talk to him to get the price to an acceptable range for us. Thankfully he was reasonable. We settled for $700 more than we would have wanted, but we will have 3 in car seats come February and the van we purchased was a good buy for us. We would have taken our business elsewhere if we thought the van was worth passing on, but it was a one owner local trade, great condition, and the right price for us. We just had expectations for what our highlander was worth based on KBB and local asking prices of similar vehicles. So in closing, I would recommend this dealership with the disclaimer that you will have to fight for yourself, just like at every other dealership. If you don't care too much about trade in value seeming fair, you'll likely be super satisfied! More
