He let me take both vehicles on longer test drives, and instead of pushing me towards the highest sale, actually suggested a lower model based on what I would use it for. A good experience I was in need of an update - my current car was beginning to show signs of age and it was just time for our family to finally have a pick-up truck for I was in need of an update - my current car was beginning to show signs of age and it was just time for our family to finally have a pick-up truck for hauling stuff. While I did initially feel a bit disappointed that I called as a serious buyer for an appointment and showed up only to find out that a sales associate was never actually assigned to me and had to wait for someone to become available, they did get it turned around quickly and set me up with a great person; Carl Porretti. I did new home sales for a number of years so I know all the tricks and how important it is to try to overcome objections to upgrades - but in my case, as a single mom with a dinky trade-in and some dings on my credit, I really had a budget. Like most buyers today, I also had already done tons of research before my visit, so I knew EXACTLY what I wanted and still wasn't even sure it would be possible given my situation. I didn't have to fight Carl on upgrading to a "bigger and better model" for too long before it was clear that he truly understood my needs, my situation, and that I was sure about my decisions, and he quickly helped me get into the exact car I'd been looking for - in fact, it was even better than what I thought I was going to be able to afford because he and his team found a creative solution that not only kept me within my budget, but got me into my dream car. I really appreciated his obvious expertise on the buying/leasing process, as well as the vehicle that I was shopping for, but most of all I appreciated his patience with the fact that I had my 8 month old son with me for the entire buying process (which can take hours from start to finish). Test drives with a car seat and a stroller can be tricky. Throw in paperwork, credit checks, bottle feeds, and unavoidable fussiness, and it can be a patience killer for any busy sales person.
