I’m very disappointed with the way this RAM dealership handled my recent service issue, and I feel the situation was managed unfairly. Here is the full timeline: • At around 35,500 miles, my check en handled my recent service issue, and I feel the situation was managed unfairly. Here is the full timeline: • At around 35,500 miles, my check engine light first came on. • By approximately 35,600 miles, the light turned off by itself. • At 35,903 miles, the check engine light came back on again. • I immediately scheduled an appointment for the very next day to have the vehicle inspected. • When I arrived at the dealership, the odometer read 36,006 miles. At that point, I was told that because the vehicle was now technically past the warranty limit, I would be required to pay out of pocket, even though the mileage was only a few miles over and the issue had already occurred while the vehicle was still under warranty. What makes this especially frustrating is that after inspection, I was informed that the actual cause of the check engine light was a system/software update that needed to be performed — not engine damage, and not anything related to how the vehicle was driven. This raises several concerns: • A required system or software update is a manufacturer-related issue, not customer-caused wear or damage. • The problem first appeared while the vehicle was still within warranty. • Denying warranty coverage over a difference of only 6 miles shows a lack of flexibility and customer care. • Most importantly, I purchased an extended warranty, yet I was still asked to pay for this service. The overall experience felt misleading and unfair. I wasn’t paying to repair damage caused by my driving — I was being charged because the vehicle’s system needed an update, which should not be the customer’s responsibility. This type of service approach does not build trust or long-term loyalty. I hope both RAM and this dealership reconsider how situations like this are handled in the future. More
