I came in for a routine service today at Newport Lexus. They always have friendly and polite people to meet me right away. The service writer, Kevin Nessl, is a good guy that I trust. Since my last service appointment the dealership has changed ownership. I had some service work that needed to be done as well as replacing a broken AC vent in my vehicle, so I set up an appointment. I purchased the Lexus OEM AC vent part directly from Lexus to be installed at my appointment. Newport Lexus refused to install the AC vent part because it wasn't purchased through their onsite parts department even though it was an OEM part purchased through Lexus. In addition the onsite Newport Lexus parts department was selling the part 28% higher than MSRP for the same part directly from Lexus corporate. I was shocked at their take it or leave it response, especially as 15+ year customer of this dealership. They provided no reason for this policy beyond "our service technician refuses to install parts not purchased from us". It is easy to see the policy is that way to rip off and overcharge their customers. If that is how they treat one of their long-term loyal customers I can't image how they will treat other owners. Another local Lexus dealership had no problem installing the part from Lexus with zero complications. Needless to say, Newport Lexus has lost my future business and I would recommend customers look elsewhere for a dealership that is fair and cares about their customers. More
