The dreaded blinking malfunction light came on as I pulled into work. I called Nucar Tarbox & they told me to come in. I was very disappointed to be told that I had to pay $150.00 dollars for a tech to find out what was wrong with a car that is under warranty. It is hard to believe that this is the first time that they $150.00 dollars for a tech to find out what was wrong with a car that is under warranty. It is hard to believe that this is the first time that they ran across an issue like the EPB light being on. I was told it had to do with coffee in the switch module that is causing the issue. And was told they would need to be replace the switch ( $ 73.18 ) assy, conso and the wiring ( $ 83.45 ) assy.conso. It is also very hard to believe that the parts are not covered by the warranty. The design is very poor by Hyundai, especially to put this console with these switch assembles right next to the cup holders. It also should be a safety issue due to shorting out the switches and causing the EPB brakes not to work. This also ties into the cruise control that does not work due to the EPB issue. Another thing to bring up is, that there our four open holes in the upper console area that can cause water or anything else liquid to fall in and short out all the switches. One last thing, I own a 2015 Santa Fe sport and never had any issues like this. I greatly appreciate someone's input and help to figure out why this wouldn't be covered by the warranty.
