This was quite the experience. Had a simple repair on a part that is engineered to be replaced (ignition cylinder) because they could not remove the cylinder effectively. The proposed solution was the repl part that is engineered to be replaced (ignition cylinder) because they could not remove the cylinder effectively. The proposed solution was the replace the steering column at $2000 dollars more than the original cost. When I mentioned that this was unacceptable, I was told my options were to pay for a repair that had not been completed and pick my car up or to take the $2000 dollar up charge. This was only resolved because management was contacted. The final solution was to replace the cylinder after the technician, at managements direction, contacted the manufacturer and determined that they had not taken the appropriate steps to remove it properly. This was one of the most stressful situations I’ve been put in regarding a repair on a vehicle. I’m certainly glad I didn’t agree to the $2000 dollar option and hope others have not had to foot bills that were unnecessary. More
